Question Why isn't anyone using FAST??????

Now that people are stepping up the boost big time and even adding nitrous on top of that, why don't people start switching to FAST. You wouldn't need high impedence injectors and forget about the MAF issues.

A few 03 Cobra guys have done it becuse of the serious issues (fuel/air) with tuning a KB.

Opinions/thoughts welcome.

I've run the FAST ECU on the last three cars I've built; excellent system and easy to tune. I am running the Accel Gen VII on my new project. I was told neither has one that will piggy-back onto the factory computer. I need to keep mine smog legal here in California. That was just one source though, so maybe I'll start checking around again. I'd love to have the tuneability; it can get some people in trouble though!

How do you know what is too expensive for "most"??

If you re-read my first post...........I am not gearing this question for the everyday "modder". It is strictly intended for guys who are have tuning difficulties with air and fuel. And if they have the cash to get a KB and built motor then they sure as hell have cash for FAST.

Umm, as you can see in my post, I stated that the FAST/DFI systems would seem more geared to those with aftermarket blowers.

Wasn't flaming Joe. Just saying FAST or DFI costs a pretty penny and I'm not sure if people are willing to drop coin on it. Have you priced a FAST or DFI Gen 7 system lately? Major $$$.

After trying to read their web page, I have one question. Since it doesn't look like they have a system for a mass air equiped vehical, do you have convert over to a speed density system???

i posted this question a couple times when the whole chip vs reflash post came up. I didnt know the name of the system or systems (i wasnt sure one existed) but this idea seems to make sense. I mean turn the key to on and everything works and then have a completly seperate system to accomdate the engine, which should give you dramatic control over the engine in terms of timing and so forth, basically letting you have completely capability to run the engine as you see fit.

Mostly i was really interested because im wondering if someone did do this if the L then maybe we could finally get a truck in stick, im interested to see what this does to quartmile times etc. Since it seems many people are making more power than they have traction i dont think it would be a problem, but im not sure.

I had actually asked something similar months ago...seeing Supras that are pushing 1000hp to the wheels and running speed density setups to get rid of the Mass Air I wondered why we couldn't do the same thing with an L.

I got about an equal number of responses.

Don, yes you convert to speed density.

grinomyte- a stick trans that will hold up to the weight and TQ of these trucks isnt going to be streetable, not even the viper spec T56.

Joe, you have to remember these motors are already tunable with the KB and a chip, The Fast System isnt going to give you more HP, just the ability to tune. You also have to realize, Nobody makes a Manual Valve body, what will control the trans ? With a roots blower you are not going to make more HP than the stock PCM can handle( My opinion) We are already hitting the highest HP levels that the 2V heads can support. Throw a big turbo on a truck and then your gonna need a Fast, you also wont have to worry about the trans because your gonna need a Powerglide. Plain and simple is Fast only allows the user to tune, you wont make any more HP than your already making. Also remember most these powerful trucks we see, have the creature comforts that a Fast wont support.

/me waits for Beefcake on this one
