Arrow intercooler option

Ok my 99 is starting this intercooler bs. At least I think it is, the previous owner did not do the recall and I think it might be starting to get thirsty on the intercooler fluid. First off how much intercooler fluid usage is normal. Cause it was a little low when I got it on the road back in April and now its pretty close to the bottom. Second I talked to my friend that works at a Ford dealersship(SVT Certified) and he says that they now turned the recall into a TSB which I knew, so I would have to pay for it. HE said his cost would be about $650 for the intercooler and then he would do the work for $50. Is there any aftermarket intercooler that would fix this issue? Is there any other option?

Thanks

0 usage is normal. Or 0 measureable usage that is. Sounds like it's leaking to me.

There is no aftermarket intercoolers available for purchase. There's been talk, but nobody actually has one for sale. My advice would be to watch ebay and pick up the revised one up on there.

The fins on the intercooler would weaken at the joints and leak coolant into the intake. Normally, you should not lose any coolant from your IC reservoir. On my 99, I was losing up to a gallon a week with only moderate driving. To my knowledge, there are no aftermarket replacements (I'm not talking about the heat exchanger in the bumper). If you are seeing regular fluid loss, switch to water in the the IC tank to avoid clogging up your 02 sensors andd making life more miserable. Then get thee to a dealer and get it fixed !

Take a black marker and draw a line on the side of the IC tank..You will notice a drop in that level plus you should be able to smell burning antifreeze...Hope this helps.. Good luck...

Contact Spearco if you need a new intercooler core to into the lower intake. Probably cost you the same as a replacement ford unit.
