Exclamation E-fan help

I need some help with an e-fan install;

It's an Outrageous perf. kit; In wiring into the main electrical box in the engine compartment, 3 wires are connected ; black, red & blue. Black & red connect no problem; Blue wire instructions indicate I need to "remove the AC relay & connect the blue wire in the center female post hole "... Is the AC relay supposed to be left out , or reconnected ? ? ? ?

Thanks ! !

Smurfslayer.
I just installed the same fan a couple weeks ago.
At first it looked inpossible but I got it with a few tries.

Bring the wire in from the engine side, put it down in the slot. Now take the ac relay and bring it down on the fender side of the wire. It looks like you will never get it down in there but what I did was I took a small screw driver and put the tip down in the area where the relay goes and then pry on the relay and push it towards the engine. As you are prying start to push down on the relay.
Again the fan wire will be on the engine side of the realy.
With some trying the relay will finally go down into the holes. It doesn't go all the way down as it used to but about 3/4 of the way down.
I then ran the wire into the fuse4 box and brought them all out of the box on the fender side.
If you still can't get it, feel free to give me a call at 281-427-1600
Hope this helps

Chris

Thanks Chris !

I've gotten the relay back in, it fits, and the fan works... Just concerned about whether that was actually intended. There's even pictured instructions... I'd have proabably paid closer attention if there were pictures of naked chicks on the instructions But that 's another post...

Thanks again !

Now I'm pissed.

The fan wiring has a short in it. No obvious knicks, cuts or kinks, it worked once when I tested it... Everything's buttoned up and pow. 3 fuses off the main power wire... I yanked her back apart, still doesn't work ( after hooking the connections with everything loose. very bad news...

All back apart, no wiring damage... looks like a bad fan kit.

4 ****ing hours flushed down the toilet AND I have to put the old fan back on.

Gotta be something not readily visible. No cut wires, nicks, pinches, kinks... The temp sensor is a "perma cool" Piece, relay isn't readily identifiable...

There are 2 sets of numbers;

981201a and J45e11. I don't suppose there is a compatible ford part I can get that won't expire like this

Are you sure you didn't blow a fuse while plugging the wires into the relay box?

about the 3rd time the fan got power, it popped the fuse... I pulled everything apart, there's no damage to the wires anywhere. I tried again, popped another fuse... I pulled the whole assembly out & inspected it top to bottom - no bare wire, no bends, kinks, knicks, cust etc.

And, on a bet, with just red, black & the battery when I put the override switch on, pop goes the 30amp again...

I was worried about these things being too fragile before I decided to buy one... Maybe 5 hp ain't worth my motor...

Calm down a second here bud, you got a bad part or your wiring is wrong somewhere. Have you checked your grounds ? If your not on a good ground or solid ground your going to pop fuses. I saw the Outragous Kit at NMRA Maple Grove, I think I recall it having a Ford fan. Most this kits are made with parts out of other cars, so they are reliable. I suggest stepping back for a while and then recheck all your wiring and grounds. If everything checks out, then you might have a bad fan, have Tommy ship you a new fan and couple of relays, then you will be set. The best part of the electric fan to me wasnt the 7RWHP(I dyno with and without fan) it was the 2-3 mpg I got on the highway. On a 1200 mile trip, which I make about 5 times a yr, I make 1 less fuel stop.
