MAC cat-back..non-typical post

Hey folks. I have been going back and forth the past few days with someone named Jay on the new MAC question Forum. You guys can view it on the MAC site. I basically asked if the Lightning cat-back was ava. in stainless or were the tips at least..i knew they werent but thought i would start the ball rolling. I was answered with Jay saying he has had the cat-back for months and the tips are fine so i have nothing to worry about. We all know that isnt true and i have had 2 of the cat-backs on 2 different stangs...the finish lasts for about6 months and thats it. Well he ended up saying "The boss say's he plans to offer the lightning in stainless as well.I personelly think thats a bummer because the chrome looks a whole lot better. And I would rather spend a few $$'s on a new set of tips once a year or every 10 months then have to look at stainless." Well we all know that stupid and i told him if he made the system in Stainless and kept it priced well 350-400 he would sell lots more of them. Am i all alone on this thought. If you guys think i am not...email MAC or post on the forum on the MAC website and tell them...maybe they will get the hint sooner than later.

Buy magnaflow. Proven quality and performance, proudly made in the USA. MAC is probably cooked up in some taiwan sweatshop. :o

I installed the mac cat back on my truck about a year ago. I have since been threw 3 sets of tips. abnormal noises comming from the muffler itslelf which i think is a broken bafflle. I have had mustangs for my whole life and always swore i would never buy another mac product. Well i was tight on cash so I bought the exhaust for my lightning. Since then I have removed it and thrown it for distance. Bottom line it was a mistake on my part for ever believeing that mac could produce anything but sh*T. There pretty parts dont fit worth a sh*t , or hold up . I will never ever in a million f*cking years buy anything from mac again.

MAC has always been pretty low quality IMO. Would not put a MAC part on my Lightning. I'll stick with Magnaflow thank you very much.

sorry but

I picked up a MAC from someone that was trading in their L and even tho we all know they could do better (which means they would charge more) mine has been no problem. I keep my tips clean and waxed and the exhaust system itself looks no different from the day I installed it (a year ago). It may be a hit or miss exhaust overall but mine is just fine, and I love the sound. BUT--UNDERSTAND-if I had money to burn I would buy the Bassani. I think that one is the way to go, without a doubt.
