I can TOTALLY relate, and that's why I ALWAYS pump my own gas. So lock me up and throw away the key.

I make sure I have my card ready before I pull in the gas station. I take my seatbelt off just before I pull in so I can get out quicker. As soon as I stop I shut it down and jump out. If the guy goes anywhere near my gas door I pretty much give a "don't even think about it look" and politely say "Thanks. I'll take care of it."

I actually had a police officer called out on me once. About 5-6 years ago, at the gas station next to Richman's on Rt40. I pulled in, let him gas it up. When it was done, he wouldn't come back over, so I got out and removed the pump and put it back up. He said "You really should let me do that." I shrug, pay him the cash, and go to get in the car. Right then, the manager walks out and comes up to me. "You do NOT need to touch our equipment. We have people here to do this job and it's not your right or privilege to interfere. There is a law against this and you should really think about that." Something to that effect. I just chuckle and ignore him. 15 minutes later, I'm driving through town, and get followed by a trooper. I pull into a parking spot, he came up and told me that a call was made regarding it. He just said that I should let the gas jockeys do their job and there wouldn't be any problems... Sigh, it's tough living 2 miles from the Trooper barracks.
