Have a question for lowered trucks...

I have a 1/2 drop on my Lightning.

My question is, my truck will bottom out HARD over the smallest bumps, in the back only.

I have to swerve to avoid manhole covers sometimes due to this.

Do any of you have the same issue, or did someone forget to swap out the bump stops with smaller ones?

This was professionally installed (The drop) as far as I can tell.
It has shorter springs in front with different shocks, and shackles in the rear...

Thanks!

Yup...

You should cut the bump stops and get some stronger shocks. Then you'll be all better.

oops sorry. My drop is a little lower than that and I have no problems bottoming out. I did have a new mount for the rear spring in the front put in and had a friend make a custom shackle for hte rear to level out the truck. I also had the Ford bumpstops taken out and new very short ones put in. I even tow with it and have no problems.

I did the same thing, lowered my rear by 3 inches (03 L). It just so happens that you need to make a rear sway bar adjustment when you lower the rear, to compensate for the extra pressure you have created. Shocks, not in the equation.

Been there done that. REM is adjusting my rear sway bar this weekend when I get the KB installed.

Good Luck!

Hmmm, ok thanks for the posts!

I'll have to look into that.

Dan, any numbers, or measurements you may know off hand on that adjustment to the bar?

If so, that would be great!!

Thanks again!

If you can wait until this weekend, I will make it a point to ask the specifics of the adjustment.

I lowered the rear by 2", with shackles, and to give back suspension travel I just cut the stock bump stops and drilled new holes in the frame 2" above the existing ones for the sway bar end link mounts. No cost this way, works like stock now.
