I would have had to go with cosmic green. Its the best VW color. My friend had a VR6 GTI a couple years ago and it was totally worked and winning car shows before its model year officially began. Def. alot to be done without trashing the warranty.

Nice choice

That VR6 is one of the best engines made. And...the interior of that car is big. I almost got one and at the time I was 6'4" and 320lbs. (I'm still 6-4 but now down to 280 and still losing.....only 60 more pounds to go! )

The build quality on the GTI is excellent.

You made a very good choice.

My neighbor has a GTi that looks real sharp. Very tasteful "Euro" look with Recaros and more. Sonic blue variant to boot.

I've been curious about this for a while:

His Recaros have "GTi" stitched in the headrests....were Recaros an option?

Really? That is a little surprising considering that VW quality is the worst of all major manuf, and just one step above the bottom (Kia) when considering all manufacterers. But I guess it is possible for one model to shine, and the rest bring the avg down.

Ford must be a minor manufacturer, then, because there's no comparison in the build quality of my TDI and my Lightning, and it sure ain't in favor of the Ford. Don't know where you got your information; C.U. gives the TDI the highest overall rating of any small car, and every VW rates extremely high in reliability. So, as a matter of fact, do most models of Ford. I've seen the survey that gives the VW very low dealer satisfaction ratings, just ahead of Ford, Mercury, and Lincoln, but that's measuring something other than build quality. Look at how many people on this board love their trucks but are mightily p.o.'d at their dealer service.

Plus Germans don't kill whales.

Alphadoggy: didn't feel like bringing the other thread back to the top for this, but your feelings about the whaling issue and the opinions you expressed are very respectable...

INJURIOUS LIABLE
I had a deposit on a G35 Coupe that I was supposed to be able to buy at Invoice, like the x-plan. A fellow L owner on here was nice enpugh to give me a Nissan Corporate VPP plan pin number so I could get a great deal on one. Nissan cancelled the program on G-35's Coupes for a unspecified period the day I went to place my order for one. I was pissed, instead of $33,500, they told me it would cost $37,500 retail, I told them to forget it. I could have gotten a G35 sedan, but I didn't want a 4 door G-35.

But it is OK, I heard Nissan may come out with a G35 Turbo Coupe..So some things happen for a good reason.

From what you have said, He bought a Special 20th Anniversary edition, I got the luxury version GTI with leather seats. The car I got wasn't available with Recaro's. The 20th has a 1.8 engine with Turbo 180 hp. I got the VR6 engine which is 6 cylinder engine 200 hp.

I read it C&D that VW is going to make a AWD Golf with a turbo VR6. Supposed to be out this fall for $30k plus. I think it was called a golf rs6 but I could be mixing that up with an Audi.

Here it is. http://www.vwvortex.com/news/05_02/05_24/index.shtml

I have owned a VW Jetta for several years now. Let's just saw that it will be the last VW I own. Never again.

The VR6 is a sweet motor though. Maybe the overall qualtiy of their cars has improved since they built mine. I hope so...

I will have to agree that I can not see you in that car DL...
