fuel pump problems

My dealer has just informed that my fuel pump is shot in my 99L and a new one is around $900 canadian plus $700 labour. Is there any aftermarket pumps that I can get cheaper?

If you have a few tools you can do the switch out yourself. Sal sells 255 pumps for $300 a pair. What's that about $2000 Canadian, eh?

So you are saying that there are 2 pumps in the tank. How does a guy get ahold of Sal, does he have a website?

I was driving the truck the other night and it just stalled and then would start and idle rough when I hit the throttle it would stall again. Does this sound like the fuel pump(s) are gone? This is what Ford says is the probelm.

If I decide to go with high volume pumps do I need to get my chip reburned?

our trucks fuel tank is super easy, you need some fuel line disconnect tools and a basic socket set. take about 2 hours. make sure there isn't that much gas in the tank, or it might be a little more hard to do

I had the same problem - the connector on my low speed fuel pump cracked and wasn't providing enough fuel. They replaced the whole pump. This was on an '01 with only 28k miles

Just one more question, if one of the pumps fails would the other not be able to keep the truck running?

Are those the 3342's? Is a plug and play deal or more a cut the stock wiring and use a new different wire harness?

Don't know. I just seen it the other day. It looks like you'll have to cut the factory harness.

So, if I have one bad stock fuel pump and decide to change it out with a higher volume pump do I need to change the other stock pump?
