To all:

I guess I should have said:

I bought the PARTS from Sal, the engine assembly was completed "in house."

Centerline Machine in Amesbury, MA did the balancing and boring.

The heads came pre-assembled, with the exception of the cams and followers...which I did myself as well.

The N-Tercooler does work well for dyno situations (no air movement) I have yet to use it on the track/street. The electric fans behind the exchanger are an awesome upgrade esp. when combined with spray bar. I decided to try this because I had everthing I needed from previous kits, so I just had to buy the bar itself...which was inexpensive.

The new head gaskets are key to making this power, FYI. The old 2-piece are crap.

I drive this truck everyday...so I guess it's streetable but, its tough not to be a menace

see ya

Andy

Sweet. Good to see another 'hands on' guy on the board. Also good to know it IS possible to build your own engine and have it run . Really the only thing I am worried about is the cam timing. I've built plenty of pushrod motors, this is my first overhead cam build though.

Yeah, just don't blow this one up j/k
Yep that's my worst nightmare. The first engine was built by MTI and was in the truck when I bought it so at least it didn't break due to my mechanic skills. And it really didn't blow up, just dropped a valve. Still did a lot of damage though.

Thumbs up

Andy looks like you have a awesome setup there. Since we are close to each other, we should meet up and compair mods. I am interested in your N-Tercooler setup, and I am sure I may help you with a few things too.

Have you had it to the track yet, and what are/or plan to run for slicks. If you haven't modified your rear brakes yet I can show you what I had to do to get 15 inch slicks to fit on mine.

Give me a call

Hey all-

the NX N-Tercooler is a piece of cake.

I have a 15 lb bottle in the bed, running the line through the frame.

A purge selonoid (had laying around) with the outlet instead connected to the spray bar.

right now, I have the switch under the hood with my fan, exchanger fans and intercooler pump. My intention is only to ice it between drag/dyno runs.

I am almost positive that "driving down the street" gains would be minimal at best...if it was air to air, it'd be a different story--which was the original purpose of the kit.

Brought my fluid temps down from about 123 or so to 91 in about a minute thirty, sitting stationary with the heat exchanger fans on/pump running/engine off. The bottle was not on the entire time, just giving it "shots."

Fluid temps checked with a laser thermometer, BTW. So some degree of error should be assumed.

If purchasing the kit, delete the bottle (a 5.5lb) and go to a 10lb minimum...the hot fluid eats through the gas.

still testing...will provide info as it comes.
