next mod

I want to get a Kenne Bell S/C for my next mod. This are my mods right now, 2000 L: JLP Diablo chip , 5# lower, 2.7 upper, single blade t/b, 90mm maf w/12" filter, stock exhaust w/ no cat convertors, 3:73 gears, line mod valve, elec. fan, 160 thermo. The chip is burned for race fuel, I use F&L 111 race fuel. It has 26,300 miles on it. My question is how would my L run with a 5# lower a KB and the rest of the mods that it has?

Eventually youre going to have to build that shortblock to handle the power the new blowers are putting on them.

If it was me, i would build the shortblock first.

At 26,000 miles the motor is in good shape, ill do that once it hits 50,000 or more. Its not a daily driver and ive seen it done on stock blocks. Im asking how would it run performance wise.

If you run your 5# lower with the biggest KB upper (a 3.5) you will have 15# of boost, might be a bit much due to the greater efficiency of the KB...You could just put a good set of rods in your motor and be safe....Im finding that with these KBs and 140s, you will end having to get bigger fuel pumps and injectors and a real good tuner to get you decent dyno numbers.

mucho mulla dude.
That combo your talking about will not last long on that stock bottem end.
And its not the rods that i worry about with big boost situations on these trucks its the heat at the piston that caused my failures.
If you get a tune with no detonation then the rods are not a problem, but 15-16 lbs of boost rom a KB will cause plenty of heat on these stock pistons and the rings cant handle it, they melt and thats that
