without using a din removal tool? None of the radio shops around here sell them and I really dont feel like waiting all week for one to get here if I order it. Thanks.

Use hangers (wire ones) and bend two U-shaped ones that fit into the 4 little holes (two on each side of the radio). Push in a pull out.

Note: you might have to push in pretty hard but it's pretty self-explanatory after that

It'll work. Just be patient bending the hanger so that it matches up well with the holes. Then you just stick it in and pull it out

The removal tool is 3 dollars at Wal Mart. When you push the coat hanger in you should hear a clicking sound if you have done it right.

Like invalid_access said, you should hear a *click* (one on each side)....they might require some effort the first time...

Also, I haven't looked at a stock radio for a while but the surrounding black shroud is removed already correct?

Keep trying and save the gas and 3 bucks for dinner

I removed my radio like 6 months ago. Once you hear the click I think you push out on the tool or coat hanger toward the doors and pull toward you. The tools is made by Scoshe and is in the chezy audio department at Wal mart. You might want to get it to keep from egging out the wholes on the radio. It would save you alot of time.

i tired to use hangers to take out the stock radio before i got my hands on the din removal tools. i couldnt get the hangers to work. i finally figured out i was pushing them in wayyyyy to far. they only go in about half an inch to an inch max if i remember right. its easy to over shoot the release levers and just go into the radio bypassing the clips all together....just a little hint
