I got a hold of a rear end totaled lightning, and I am going to swap the motor into '98 Navigator. Does anyone have any info on this or can link me to it? Thanks Gents.

Should be a bolt in deal, all the parts you need are in the Lightning. Just swap the motors, use the Lightning harness and PCM, and swap over all the other parts (intercooler heat exchanger, pump, etc). Both trucks have the same motor, but the 98 2V 5.4 has the non-PI heads, so use the Lightning exhaust manifolds.

I am REALLY excited about this. The coolest part is my Nav is selectable 2wd-awd-4h-4l. I cannot wait for awd launches! I will be living on this board until I have 500hp Nav!

you need to talk to GREGG EVANS (FACTORY TECH) he is the transmission guru, he could explain all the intricate details of the tranny setup.

What would break? The t-case? I do not know for sure but I am hoping that the L tranny will work with my stock t-case. Do you know how I can get a hold of Greg Evans?

he is THE transmission guy.

you might have a hard time contacting him though this month:

" I don't "do" July
Well, I survived till July again, and every time I do that I take a Month off, so I'll be out for most of the month. I will be able to check the boards a few times, but I won't be answering much e-mail, or the phone, and my cell phone doesn't work where I go so I'm pretty much gone for the month. I'll be finishing up some loose ends on the third and then I'm on vacation, if you have any problems, please try your vendors, I will be staying on contact with them more than anyone during the month!

Thanks for making this a great year for me!

G"

dude --- when you find please post on here because i was thinking of doing the same to a 2k expedition. I am sure that the transfer case will blow up without being modified! There was a guy at the local dealership that threw on a blower on his expo and it blew up--- I will try to get a hold of him because he said that he was upgrading his to withstand the power.

The navi's use the same tranny as the L and I remember seein on the L board that the Navi has a higher stall(2400) than a stock L so you should have no problems unless your extremly hard on it or puttin down some unreal power.

I am really easy on stuff, just doing this because it is practical and fairly inexpensive. The L motor has forged internals, mine does not, the L motor has one third of the miles that I have and it has a blower. I am hoping to part the rest of the truck for some money back and sell my Nav motor and tranny.
