o/d off or on

I have a dumb question, when dynoing should I have the o/d off? Does this also go with street/track racing?

I don't see the advantage in turning it off at the track. You never leave 3rd gear. However, it will help you slow down after your run.

I could of sworn Gregg Evans who we all know knows a thing or 2 about tranny's, recommends leaving the OD on. I could be wrong though. I usually am.

well you dont wanna dyno in 4th, so i think you leave od off and hit it til you max in 3rd. As for the strip, leaving it on is probably ok, since like said before, you shouldn't be hitting 4th, unless your running 4.10 or higher gears.

what

My truck shifts into OD when running down the 1/4 mile.

Everytime. I hit OD.

If I left it in 3, I would top out and hit rev limiter before I cross the line.

For me it's the luck of the draw.
Since the truck is an automatic and it takes me a while to get down the 1/4 mile track, I just keep tapping the OD button on and off and listen to a couple of songs on the radio.

Otherwise, I'd get bored.

That's because your only running 25" tall tires.
