Let me just say that I have not had a single regret since buying the L. It is simply a pleasure to drive and I believe that they are some of the best looking vehicles on the road today. Another great thing about them is that for relatively little money, you can pump out a great deal more power with a chip, pulley, and filter. As far as reliability is concerned, I'm willing to take my chances. I think there are some on this board with extremely high mileage and still running strong. Good luck in you decision.

Btw- I just finished with a nice coat of Maguires Gold Class and a full detail job. Shes looking good

i sold my 94 ta for my 2000 L and I love it...

Not sure if my comment counts, my ta wasn't even close to being in your league... But it was an F-body and I loved it...
The lightning drives so much better and I love all the torque it has. I love pulling up next to a sports car and blowing them away or at least hanging with them and seeing the look on their faces... I love how the truck sounds (even stock pulley) The supercharger whines SO LOUD. It drives so good and it's fun to mod. I've changed the exhaust out, put in a shift kit and a chip and pulley. and I love it. Like someone said, I went 12.60 with less than $500 into the motor. $250 for a pulley and $150 for a chip... It's also nice to have a bed in the back. (when i go to the track I haul my friends and my slicks and a jack...) I am starting to use it more and more... (now that people know I have it )
Last thing, I love getting the looks from people when i drive by in the L. I would get them sometimes in the ta when the t tops were off, but when the L is clean, it looks sharp and I get so many compliments on it. Thanks, Shane

Your comment matters a lot. I like the speed and the power that my car has, and that is why I got it. I WAS just concerned with being able to beat people in a race. I guess that you could say that I have grown up a bit, and learned that there is more to enjoying a vehicle than just "I run a 11.8 so I can beat you" It isn't just about that to me anymore. I have achieved every goal that I have had for this car, and now I want something with a better ride, and something more rare. Not to mention I have always liked the suprised look on people's faces.

I have a few videos of my old truck that I had before my car. I will upload them and post the vids soon. The vids are just me beating some rice including a modded wrx.

If anyone still has any more opinions I would Love to hear them

Aaron

If you want to do it ,go ahead and get the L, L's rock! But I personally would/did get a Harley . Almost as fast and has much more room. But I personally would never pick a L or a Harley over my F-bod.

Check out the classifieds on this forum and NLOC's for "trucks for sale". I was looking through those and there are some sick trucks for excellent prices. You can get pretty much any stage of tune and you know if the person posted on here, he at least knows that these trucks don't have 6 cylinders

Have fun and keep Goodyear in buisness.

the best thing is what someone else already said.

how often do you drive your car at Peak HP? High RPM's.. not often.

these L;s make a ton of torque off the line.
enough that you could easily go through some F1's lets say in 3000 miles. (but luckily the price is coming down a lot)

I have 11k on the odometer and I'm on my 3'rd set of rear tires.\\grinning from ear to ear

can't have em both right? that's just my goal later on down the road if I still have my L is to have my Lightning and a ws6 or something. I've always loved Ls1's and lt1's. They are real sharp cars.

This vette parked next to me once when I was at work. I didn't know who he was, but I always dreamed about having my truck and a vette or a ws6 at my house... So for the heck of it I took a few shots of our cars together...

Then another buddy of mine has a red 98 ws6 like this one here (that's not his. that is another guys 02 I think)... My friend just got it a few days ago. I can't wait to get shots of his red ws6 and my red L together... Cause that was the car I wanted to by b4 I got my L. I am very happy I got the Lightning and wouldnt trade it in for a ws6. Just my dream is to own both the lightning and a ws6 or a vette even down the road... later, Shane

L purchase

In my opinion, you need to decide how your going to use a vehicle, day to day, weekend racer, winter beater ect... my truck has been great to date, I've had many muscle cars some faster some slower but the truck gives me something in the middle. Mid 12's at the track, comfortable interior, the bed for odd and ends, cheap insurance and exclusitivity. Its fun for me and my wife can still drive it, my truck is a garage queen but alot of guys drive them year round. About the only problem I have with it is parking it to avoid dings and general parking lot BS. Have fun, Todd

another thing like mentioned above. you went what on your camaro 11.80? You can do that with the L to if you want. You seem to know a lot about cars and if you want to do it, it isn't THAT hard to get an L into the 11's. Like I said I went 12.60 with chip, filter and pulley... less than $500 into the motor. From 13.8 to 12.6. I didnt catch on the first page what you wanted out of the L if you got it. Kept is stock or moded it out a little? Or made it even faster than the camaro? what do you want out of the truck? Like you said in an earlier post all that going fast and I have an 11 second car is behind ya... thats cool. But so is having an 11 second Truck! Thanks, Shane

I haven't even taken my car to the track yet. I stay side by side with 11 sec cars, and I pulled 3 lengths on my friends mid 12 sec car by 100 and I was still pulling hard. I put the motor together, and put it in the car, because I learned the hard way that there is no warranty on performance work. So I am not afraid of a little bit or wrenchtime.

My goal for this truck would not be hard to get at all. For the time being I would probably just drive it stock, but of course that wouldn't last as you all know. If my lightning ran mid-low 12's that would be MORE than fast enough for me. I am mostly looking for it to be fun, reliable, look good, and sound good. I have always wanted a lightning ever since I had my first truck because of the looke, power and the sound. I just never thought that I would be able to afford it, but the more I look into it it isn't that hard to afford.

If I wanted to I already have the parts to ge the truck into low 12's no problem. I have a NX wet kit that was installed on my car when I had my old motor

Only problems now are selling my car, and finding a good used 01-up L.

Hey you all! This is Aaron's gf Brooke, from a hardcore Ford family-2001 eddie bauer expedition, 97 f150 4x4, 94 f350 diesel, mazda RX-7 (hey its half ford!), olderthandirt f150 200,000 miles and counting!!, and the pride and joy of the family- my 2001 Mustang GT.

Soooo.... you can see the pressure from me and my family huh? We all cant wait to see Aarons new lightning. I want him to have one cause he loves trucks, i love ford, i know its reliable, it looks DAMN GOOD!, and finally.... i dont like crossing my fingers walking to his car. Before this past motor swap (2nd in 8 months) his car used to leak oil. When we went on dates, we had to stop at a gas station to fill it back up with oil!!

I just want him to have something he would love driving everyday and not have to fix every other.

I say silver, true blue, red or black. i think my boy is stuck on white or silver though. Fine by me, im in charge of detailing duty. Keep the comments coming guys!
