Rayden, it's good to hear you were let go for the stop. It appears that you avoided the most common mistake made during traffic stops and that being disrespectful to the officer. I know, since I am one.
I'll probably take heat for admitting this on this forum since I have read some pretty rough posts about police. Just remember, most cops will treat you like you treat them, so if your first contact is to start name calling and treating them like crap, then that's what usually comes back at you. Are there bad cops? Sure, but not all of us are and we don't like being treated that way anymore than you do. As for your suggestions to getting radar detectors... I wouldn't waste my money, since most have instant on/off switches to defeat any radar detector. I have one in my car that can detect any direction and has an electronic voice to verify what car I am tracking. It's almost impossible to defend against in court, so save your money and maybe buy some other mod instead.

The idea isn't always to see the officer trying to pop you with the radar gun. If you have a detector with a long enough range, you may just see the pulse of the instant on when the officer is shooting another car up ahead of you.

Hey Passthru, Yeah i've heard that theres a no win situatuation with a radar detector against you guys technology..I have a heavy foot and don't realize how fast i'm going sometimes.. The power in these trucks don't help at all either.. I just wanted to have it there as an awareness device or something to remind me.. Today I purchased a BELTRONIC radar for 119..It has a digital voice system..WOW!!!
....A lot of state patrols were out today and I really worked pretty good to me...I guess their radar picks up on speeding before the detector picks up the radar/laser...One thing I feel that it's good for is if you are cruising doing normal speeds, the detector will pick up a radar/laser giving you the benefit of not picking up speed or being tempted to race by that ricemobile next to you...if the radar detector goes off, tell him to go for it, and laugh watching him get the ticket
I have all types of respect for police officers or anyone in the justice system...Its amazing some of the things you guys go through.. I have the upmost respect for police officers and noticed if you come at them a sensible attitude they usually give you an easy time...

I have to agree with cyntax here. How many cops give other cop traffic violations? probably less than 5 percent! But hey their objective right? Im sure some other cop will chime in and say we dont commit traffic offenses!

Bottom line, cops get paid to write tickets, it's part of the job. If you violated the speed limit, if you chose not to wear a seat belt, if you chose to tint your windows, etc. etc. you have to take your chances. I used to love hearing peoples excuses, and based my actions on theirs. I was always a soft touch, especially with people who were into their cars or trucks. Most of time, attitude is the deciding factor.
The other side of that coin is a mechanical reaction. break the law, ANY law, no matter how trivial and you pay the maximum penalty no matter what. I guess as a society we need to find a happy medium, but there will always be guys like Cyntaxx who for some reason will always distrust cops, and guys like me, who chose to be cops and will always defend the profession. Both serve a purpose and hopefully bring balance to the "Force"......................
The other side of that coin is a mechanical reaction. break the law, ANY law, no matter how trivial and you pay the maximum penalty no matter what. I guess as a society we need to find a happy medium, but there will always be guys like Cyntaxx who for some reason will always distrust cops, and guys like me, who chose to be cops and will always defend the profession. Both serve a purpose and hopefully bring balance to the "Force"......................

Quite a few over the years, plus a few arrested for DUI, one for domestic violence and one for child abuse. Believe it or not, we do our jobs just like everyone else. Don't believe everything you see on Law and Order...........or worse, CSI Miami, now there's a bunch of bullcrap.

Well, DUI and Domestics Abuse(with proper evidence) are expected to be followed through on without any exceptions. I was speaking on ordinary traffic stops as the one described in the earlier thread. I have a lot of experience and maybe your different than the guys on the sheriffs police detail here and troopers and local police. Im a part time stock broker and prison guard here. Had the chance to switch over to police unit but declined. I just love dealing with the knuckle heads in the house.
