Intake Plenum Paint or Powdercoat
Just got my intake plenum back from Extrude Hone and the outside finish now looks like shyte! Any ideas what color Ford uses to powdercoat these things? Anybody found a decent match? I've got a bunch of samples of powdercoat colors from the place that's powdercoating a motorcycle frame for me and none of them match...two are close but not close enough. I also checked into having it Jet-Hot coated on the outside but I don't think they can do it as they bake the part at 650-degrees and aluminum starts to 'gas' at about 600. If I can't find a matching color it will be off to the polishing bench for this thing.

Yeah,
Like you got time. Between cruising on the Bike, in the Porsche and moving.
Just paint it Black. Match the truck.
Its not like you drive the L anyway.
The upper plenum is not powdercoated it has a epoxy paint on it. And Aluminum outgases on a casted part at 325 degrees not 600 but it will not matter on jetcoating I believe that robg jetcoated his lower intake and it worked fine. I personally would polish the thing.
V-Man,
Since I've got some free time on my hands I'm going to roll out to your crib so I can shake that money tree that you have in the backyard...a decked L, a built motor with a KB, a nice Cobra 'vert, a wedding (and how you managed to snag your lovely fiance is beyond me - Mr. Ed's got to be a relative of yours is all that I can think of
) and a honeymoon in Hawaii. Damn it man...I need your job! Actually it's too hot to ride the bike, the Porsche is the wife's car so I get to get it washed and put gas in it and the original house is now no more so we've bought a lot and are in the process of designing our new house and we just finished the paperwork to start building our interim house...I spend more time looking at furniture, light fixtures, tile and carpet than doing anything that even remotely resembles fun stuff in the garage.
badass,
Any idea what color epoxy crap they use? I took a part to Jet-Hot the other day as they are not too far from me and they wouldn't touch it (it was an aluminum cylinder head from a 2-stroke bike). I've also got HPC here in town that I may try.

wouldn't powerder coating or painting, trap more heat in the plenum?
I powder coated some engine parts on my stang, but removed them (valve covers) becuase they trapped too much heat.

Struck in AZ,
Here's a ceremic coated ( jet-hot equivelent ) upper, lower intake & midplate. Among other engine bay things
It's a local Chicago company that does this process so if you're interested give me a hollar.
