Some go as aggresive as 19-21 for the track side,

thats just what I was looking for. thanks Rob and everyone else for their input. Shane

Jeff I dont have the diablo anymore. Are you suggesting I get a diablo and get a program on that? Now I have the superchip and I want to try to get 1 aggressive program and 1 mild. I just want to find the best program on the race side with my mods that will still be safe. You said I should get it on the dyno, and then send the results to the tuner? Or do I need the tuner to be there when I dyno? Like you were saying there is a dyno a minute or two from my house I can get like 3 pulls for like $75 I think. My question is, what do I do with the results and how ill that help the tuner tune me a program? Thanks, Shane

Shane anyone of the 3 chip makers will get the job done. The key is to have your L make some pulls and see what you graphs and A/F's look like. You can do it via fax or mail but with that you will have to go back and dyno again to see how close or good the tune is. The best thing would be to have your L strapped to the dyno while the chip is reburned after making the pulls for max HP at SAFE levels....It usually takes hours while your L is strapped down to get the results you want. It's not always easy to find a place that can do that. That is why many people drive great distances to get a good dyno tune...

thanks jeff for the reply. So you reccomend going to the track, (i am going to try to go tomorrow if its not to hot) and running and get a better feel for the program. THen if I still want get a reburn, and then track again, then dyno?

did you ever get your truck on the dyno at that one place you were looking at?
I just dont get what info will I get from the printout that will help my tuner. Thanks, Shane

Shane the track is what talks In a perfect world your tuner guy whould have all his equipment hooked up to your L at the track. That way he could data log what is going on with your engine and make adjustments accordingly.. That does not happen though for 99% of the people. Next best would be to have your L at the tuner strapped on a dyno to tune the chip. That's hard too if your not near them. Some people make the trip because they want the best for their L. You can and have been doing the mail order stuff but that is tough because your tuner guy really never sees how your L's vital statistics look under stress...The more mods you have the harder it is to tune long distance. It can be done but tough...

thanks again jeff. did you ever get out to that dyno in naperville? and they dont do chips there do they? I have a superchip. Like i said, I am going to get out to the track with the program I have, then pry get a reburn, and go from there. I was just wondering how aggressive I can go. I am not going to get serious and travel to meet the tuner, or request anything more than a dyno print out and send that to him. It'd be nice if the tuner was here to come to teh track with me, but till then, ill keep sending it in and out for reburns and going to the track and testing it. I was just wondering how the dyno print out of my truck would help even after the 2nd burn. That would let the tuner know how my truck is handeling the program with my current mods?
Thanks, Shane

Don't think FLP tunes chips but I'm sure Jeff is more familiar with those guys. However, they are a very quality dyno place and I was very pleased dynoing there.

As for a dynotune, there is a place in Schaumburg that does Diablos, I don't know if Jeff is referring to this place or not. Never priced them though and I haven't had much experience with them. Diablosports however, have the ability to reach all 4 banks on your PCM which translates to greater versatility with more variables without having to "program around" like many other chips that can only reach banks 1 and 2.

Jeff: I'm going forth with the reflash before the bottle is strapped in. Any dyno days at FLP coming up? I should have my reflash within these next couple of weeks here and I'm very excited to see some AFRs and rwhp/torque numbers with my new program.

jeff did you ever dyno your truck? if so how did you do? if not, are you ever going to set up anything again like last time? a group dyno day? if so let me know I am interested in dynoing my truck. There is a place out here by me (plainfield) off rt55 and 126th called Midwest Hot Rod's that I was talking about 3 pulls for like $100... let me know if anyone is interested in that and I'll set something up with one of the guys over there.
thanks, Shane

I was there at that dyno day with Jeff...it was a good time. It was at a place in Naperville called Finish Line Performance. Great bunch of guys. I couldn't find it again if you asked me though, lol. I think we paid 75 bucks but I don't remember and they gave us a nice set of laminated print outs from the runs.

update

just wanted to let ya all know I went to the track tuesday. As I thought, even after the mods, and with the new chip, truck felt slower. I ran a 13.3 and a 13.4. From five 12 second runs to a 2 mid 13's. Very disapointed in the et times, but it was good to get out and get some hard info behind my thoughts. So i've got my chip in for a reburn and hopefully we will put a little more timing into the aggressive side and get back into the 12's.
- it was also hot out (80 degrees or so)
- and i did not warm the et streets up enough so my 60 foot times were way higher than I wanted.
Two 2.0's. So I need to get those down also. Thanks for all the advise. Shane
