Woodward Dream Cruise

I'm a new L owner and new to this forum. Me and my friend are both currently overseas (Military) and should be returning soon. He's got a 2001 Mustang GT and told me of this Cruise. There is suppost to be over 25 Yellow Mustangs there and I was wondering if any L's planed on making an appearance? Its the Woodward Dream Cruise in Troy, Michigan. If anyone plans on going let me know so we can get together.

Is it true they do not allow newer trucks to actually participate in the cruise? Only *classic* vehicles?

Thumbs up

My better half and I went last year. It was unbievable! People were NOT getting busted for racing, burnouts, ect... The police just seemed to bend their ear for about 30 seconds then it went on as usuall.

We even saw a LEO do a 5 second burnout. You should have heard the crowd!

Motown in the summer is awsome

there is no way to stop them from cruising, your talking about one of the largest carshow/cruise events of all times (gets bigger every year) the only thing is is it turns into a parking lot worse that a rush hour traffic jam. as far as older vehicles only that is the concept that went behind the first WDC but it snowballed on them. i think i heard the other day on the radio they expect 1.5 million people to either cruise, show or park and walk this year. it suppose to be a 1 day thing but some of the city's have made it into a weekend thing and people start cruising weeks before.

Definitely not true

People bring all KINDS of vehicles. Old, new, customs, hot rods, you name it, it's there. Last year, I remember a VW Bug that was 2 fronts put together and 2 people had to steer it...

SVT has a display there too!

I have been going to WDC since it started in 95...........trust me on this one, if you want to have a blast go out there at night from Monday-Thursday before the weekend events. More fun than you can shake a stick at.

If you like "hot rods", "modfied roadsters", "chopped and channeled and flamed , e.g. 49' Mercurys, 50' Fords", and just plain unaltered "classic cars"; this is the place to see them. All the little strip malls rent space for people to show off their cars. Ford usually has a big display. By wednesday of this week, Woodward Avenue will be packed with spectators. Get a spot near a stoplight so you get a chance to really look over some of the "cruizers". All the local towns on the "cruize" mentioned before do a good job of "policing" the event so no one gets hurt and when I've been there everyone is real nice, those showing off their cars are glad to tell you about them; no one gets rowdy or stupid and those "cruizing" are really careful. No one wants to get their vehicle "bruized". This is a major event in the area that also generates a lot of money given to local charities. It's a great opportunity to take a chair on a hot summer nite near an ice cream stand and just sit back and relax with friends and watch a lot of really great vehicles.

I would like to go but the drive from SanDiego is just to long for me and my 3 yr old son. I am from Mich and went to the third WDC and have wanted to go every year but the Marine Corps just makes it a little more difficult to make it. Who ever goes please post pics.

Hmm.. think of it this way..
a 8 lane traffic jam 45 miles long of the baddest *** cars around..

Where to park?

All ths shops close and rent their parking lots to car clubs. It is almost impossible to find somewhere to park ON woodward. a street off woodward you can find parking and walk up to the street.

I realize what you have stated above. But where can you park like a mall or something just off Woodward and walk to see something?
