help

I have a car I bought 6 years ago and sometime before I bought it it had gotten water damage. It does show up on car fax as that too. It is not a salvage car though. THe insurance work was done to it and restored this car back to normal. I have had no problems with it and it does not show many sign of water damage either. My ???s are

1. Do I have to tell the dealer about this by law when I go to trade in, or will he just find out on his own?

2. How much less will he give me for it or should I say try to give me for it? I cant seem to find anything on the internet about trading in a water damaged car.

I am getting ready to buy an 03 L and want to know how much to expect on my trade in.
ANY help on this would be great.

If there's one thing I learned with Ford, even know when they sell you a new vehicle and tell you how they'll take it back when ever you want and get you into a new Ford, THEY LIE.
They same dealer that sold me my Cobra basically refused to take it back and said not interested, so I ended up selling it privatly. A matter of fact they didn't want my Bronco either when I bought the Cobra.

You didn't mention the Car you have ??? But my guess is you'll get more on the outside. However if you just want out, give it to them, and DON'T TELL THEM SCHITT.

Most places will give you 3k for just about anything, some even run the ad, pull it, tow it, push it, drive it, and you get 3k grrnty'd.
But remember this is Ford we're dealing with, so that may not apply

Anything with over 100,000 on the OD... good luck! My dad traded in a 98 olds with 100,000+ on the OD... no dealer would go higher than 800$ on the car! Car was in perfect condition inside and out...

$3000.00 for anything? Wow, Ive never seen anything like that here in the Northwest. One thing you have to look at is they will have to make up the difference on the selling price of the vehicle they are trying to sell you. I agree that selling it privately is always a better deal. It might take a little time, but you will probably get more than trade in value. Curious on the two vehicles you tries to trade in, did they jsut refuse to want them or was it they wouldn't pay the value you thought they were? Most dealers don't pay much for a trade in.

If they ask you for any history on the car, you would be obligated to tell them, otherwise you could be guilty of fraud. If they don't ask, I wouldn't tell.

If it has a clean title and the repairs were done right, it shouldn't deminish to much of the value. It's hard to say, but possibly 15%.

ANY help on this would be great.
Good luck.

here in LI NY they do it ALL THE time, 3k FOR ANYTHING
running or not. You can drag it in and get the 3k.
But Ya, I got to assume there's at least 2k added to the sell price, PLUS THEY DO IT ON USED CAR SALES TOO, I think you have to spend a min of 6k - 8k to be grrnty'd the 3k
or something ?

the dealer is allready giving me a good deal on the truck. I have been telephone dealing with him and he quoted me 29,990 for an '03 L. That is why I am worried about my trade in when I take it to him next week. He knows I have a trade in so he gave me a good price on truck and probably going to try to screw me on my car. Edmunds says my car is worth $2100 in fair condition and so does kellybluebook, but since is has water damage on title I was just wondering how much they would try to give me.

Also what is the difference between a title that has water damage on it and one that has flood damage on it...because I have seen both.
