Ready to install mods/chip question

I am about to install a 6 lb pulley and plugs.

I want to do the install here (70 miles from the dealership) My question is.. can i do the pulley install and drive it to the dealership WITHOUT having a chip in the truck? I plan on keeping it out of boost as much as possible, but i have to get the truck to the dealership to dyno tune and reburn the chip.

Like i said i would first.

1 uninstall the chip
2 change out plugs
3 change pulley and belt to 6 lb
4 install tranny valve body
5 start engine

THEN drive about 70 miles to the dealer for the dyno tune/chip reburn.

If i cant do it this way i will have to pay dealer to install pulley.

Any ideas?

Just to clarify.. the chip i have is an old program and is not a chip that came with the pulley.

Thanks,

If your chip is already burnt for whatever mods you do have everything should be cool.I wouldnt pull the chip out or anything.I mean i had the same burn on my chip since i got it with the filter. Now i have a 6#,throttle body, and an exhaust.I have had my truck dynoed and everything was cool a/f and all no need for re burn.So in my oppinion you should be fine,i mean i wouldnt romp on it till you dyno it to check you a/f but yeah you should be able to drive it just dont remove the chip unless you really need a re burn.

apparently pulley's are on Ford's "we cancel your warranty" list.

I would put it on after the dealer trip

Dude i appreciate your concern. I am willing to pay the price. The warranty dosent matter anymore.

The chip is set for increased line pressure (bad idea) so i am pulling it for that reason since i am doing the valve body mods. It has to get reburned for that reason alone. So i guess so far it would be safe to pull the chip and just no romp on it huh?

By the way man, we have same truck+just about the same mods! Lookin forward to that et you posted!

Cool

You'll be fine as long as you stay out of it.
These things are pretty fat from the factory as-is.

What exactly are you taking the truck to the dealer for?See most service writers dont even look at the vehicle their writeing up.You give you problems they put in in the computer and the mech goes to work.Unless you have a reall di@k mech working on your truck he probably wont even look for any mods you just have to play it cool.I mean now if you have your truck slammed with a roll cage bars sticking through the rear window and some slicks under it then you may have a problem telling them its stock. But ive see that a lot of mechs dont even care what youve done they get paid all the same anyway. And if you did get cought out there then like you said it dosent really matter anyway you knew what was goin to happen when you did it....just play the game.

Thanks wideopen..

Hey i have heard of people running pulleys without a chip. How possible is that? Reason i am asking is just in case there is some problem getting on the dyno on friday.I am wanting to go on a road trip. It has been raining here for a week solid (no kidding) and i am dying to drive the L.

There are plenty of people around without chips running 4lb and 6lb.
I have been running a 4lb and no chip for 4,000 miles, my A/F was fine on the dyno, I also ran a 6lb for a short while with no problems. Dont let these guys spook ya' about chips
