Torque on B&M pan bolts?
Torque on B&M pan bolts?
I've read several different torques (11-12 ft/lbs and 13-14 ft/lbs)for the tranny pan bolts in several threads. I'm putting my FTVB in this weekend and also have a B&M pan to go with it. I don't want to screw anything up and would like to know what those with the B&M pan have been torquing them to.
you're not going to strip much of anything with 14 ftlbs.
nobody uses torque wrenches on tranny pans in the shop. i know i might get flamed on this, but really i've never seen a torque wrench used on a tranny pan at my shop.

Two of the pan bolts will strip with about 15 ft/lbs, but that sad I've been known to "self guage" them in a pinch, I alsmost always use air tools and have a torque bar ($95 each) that is set for 11 ft lbs, but when I do them by hand I can ussually get the valve bodies and the pump almsot right by feel, the pan bolts I have stripped a few of, they're pretty unforgiving sometimes.
