I have no cats. Some people say it helps. Others say it hurts.

I'm getting used my loudness, so I'm going to have a catless pipe made and get it dynoed. if it makes any more power and sounds better I'll keep it on.

Cool

From an air-flow standpoint. No cats would have less backpressure. The question is at what point/mods do you get gains? And are those gains really worth it?

I'd suggest that unless you care ONLY about 1/4 mile abilities? You'll want to keep them or at the most get a set of high flow versions. Because in reality most people don't drive at 100% throttle and 5,000 rpms most of the time. I'd go so far as to say that anybody using thier Lightning as a daily driver should NOT do this. You'll hurt the low rpm torque which you DO use all the time.

Not to mention it's something like a $10,000 fine.

WOT

they dont do emissions test in my county yet! and i realize it is not legal. but i have yet to see or hear of anybody around here that has got a fine for no cats. not to say it hasent happened i just havent heard anything. i seen these mid pipes for sale for $380.00 i have the stock muffler and was just going to swap out cats back and forth for race season this summer. but it may not be worth the hassel. still considering high flow cats thanks

I've heard low-end power loss? I'm contemplating catless midpipes with MIL elims. They're cheaper than hi-flows and Indiana doesn't even know how to spell "emissions."

Anyone have any dyno/track #s to share?

I'm practicing to be a politician. j/k

With all of the banning going on around here I have to be careful about what I say.

Oh yeah I have emissions testing where I am and I passed with no cats. No bribes either.
I also have driven my truck 9K miles since the first part of April. My truck is my daily driver and I love no no cats.

My guess is that you loose a little low end torque, but gain high end HP due to flow, I have some bassani x pipes waiting to go in. and my truck will be dyno'd after that and other parts go in. since my truck has been dyno'd 2 times previously, it will be easy to see if the curve changes, and where it does. (since no one really chimed in and said "yes the catless helped me gain hp) because I figure with this much Tq, i can stand to loose a little bit and gain hp

If thats all you do is add no cat mid pipes you'll lose HP and TQ. I did this and lost boost. But when I added a JDM 108mm Cold Air, 4lb pulley, chip, plugs, and fuel filter I picked up 75hp and 100tq, putting my truck at 425HP and 550TQ.

Get rid of the rear cats and keep the front pre-cats, I gained some torque with my Borla cat-back and it sounds incredible now, I'm happy.
