Getting a new L next week, wondering about some mods...

Yeah, so I'll be picking up my L next week, and I'm still a bit confused about some mods. I'm also trying to stay on a pretty tight budget...

1. I'm planning on going with a 6# pulley, so I was wondering exactly what the difference between a caged pulley and a regular pulley is. I also noticed that a couple of the vendors had a a bit of a price difference in their pulleys...Any reason for that? Do I need a new belt as well?

2. I'm looking for the loudest ***********king blower whine and exhaust note possible. So what kind of intake kit should I be looking at? I'm trying to stay away from CAI kits 'cause of problems with water. I've had water damage to a car before, and it wasn't fun.

3. There are a few differnt chips available on the market. Are there any substantial differences, or is it just preference? Any real advantages to going with a flip chip? I'm pretty much the only person going to be driving the car, so is there any real need for 2 sets of programs?

Again, I'm kind of trying to stay on a budget, so any help along those lines would be cool. Thanks.

LOL.......You got it bad, dude

Mods and a budget, don't seem to go along well together, atleast for me.
Good Luck in your quest for speed.

Why not call a few of the tuners on this board and talk to them. ( Midweek seems to be the best time to catch them)

I have the UNcaged #4lb lower from PSP, Superchip and Cold air kit from JDM...and LOVE ALL OF EM. The pulley is great quality, easy to install and Sal gave out excellent directions and his price was good. Ive had good luck with JDM and will be back for more from them in the future. DO a search and you will see that more guys run the uncaged just for the fact that it is user friendly, and there have been a few horror stories with removal of the uncaged-but I wouldnt be able to tell you anything about that. Im happy with what I got and the blower sounds like it should be taking off from Ohare airport, rather than my garage

Good Luck with the truck!

First thing get the oil seperator from REM!!! It will be worth every penny.

Let me spend your money!!!!!

6 pound pulley
ported upper intake
factory tech valve body
Mobil 1 ATF fluid
Mobil 1 5W-30W
Mobil 1 Universal grease
Ford motorsports transmission pan
Oil seperator
Diablo flip chip (Street & drag strip)
Cold air intake
Power tube
Full exhuast (Long tubes mid pipes and cat-backs)
Metco lower traction bars
2" rear drop shackles
Drive shaft safety loop
Single blade trottle body
Electric fan & cobra water pump
NGK TR-6 plugs

I think that about covers it except for a new set of rear tires after you blow out the first set!!! This will put you in the low 12's with drag radials @ 109/110

REM has the caged pulley system which means if you ever want to up to a 8 pound pulley you can just unbolt and bolt on. (Don't do the 8# until you get an upgraded heat exchanger)
