According to Ford manual:

Torque spec = tight plus 1/8 turn

Another words.........you will never get a proper torque on the plugs because of the swivels involved in the job. So tighten them up snug then an 1/8 turn more.........or 1/16th.......whatever it's Friday

What Soap is trying to say is that there aint no torque spec. Get them snug then tighten them as much as you can with the mouse-trap derived combo of ratchets, sockets, extensions, adapters, swivels. That's not exactly a text book answer but it's about what you're gonna hear based on past experience.

billarf,
All nuts, bolts and plugs on Ford modular engines have a torque number.

Plugs are 16-20Nm.

Torque Value for fastners on 5.4L Lightning.

Note:
Prior to service re-installation or replacement of fastners, all threads and contact surfaces must be lubricated with
WSE-M2C908-A OR WSS-M2C914-A OIL.

THREAD SIZE-----------------------TORQUE

M6 X 1 ------------------------------8 - 12 Nm.
M8X 1.25 ------------------------- 20 - 30 Nm.
M10 X 1.5 ------------------------ 40 - 55 Nm.
M12 X 1.75 ---------------------- 70 - 95 Nm.
M14 X 2 ----------------------- 110 - 155 Nm.
1/8 - 27 PIPE --------------------- 7 - 11 Nm.
1/4 - 18 PIPE -------------------- 11 - 16 Nm.
3/8 - 18 PIPE -------------------- 16 - 24 Nm.

Note:
Pipe plug torques in aluminum must be checked when engine is warm.

So, exactly where are the damn plugs anyway? I looked for them, but coudn't see chit. Also, why are people changing the plugs already on an 03? Aren't they 100,000 mile plugs?

The plugs are under the green coil packs

See the plug down there?

We change plugs when we do mods.

Woah! 11FT LBS sounds like a disaster waiting to happen. From what I have been told by a tuner and from past experience that is waaaaay too low. -Mat-

No, I will not be changing plugs real soon as I only have 1400 mi. on my '03 L. I do plan on checking plugs for tightness every few thousand miles though.

Scroll ALL the way to the bottom of this http://www.densoiridium.com/installationguide.htm page for the correct(IMHO--and Denso's) plug tightening method.

DON'T tighten them too much. The 'soft', aluminum threads(in the heads) will weaken and release the plug sooner or later. I ran mine down finger-tight(with the socket, of course) and then 1/16th of a turn more! and my NGK BR7EFs have been in for about 29,000 miles.
