Help: best shocks for Hotchkiss?

Need recommendations for my '01L.

I have Hotchkiss now, called Hotchkiss and they still abide by their recommendation of staying with factory shocks.

My L is my daily driver, street and highway only. I am still bouncing up and down, more that I would like. I have done the search and have heard nothing bad about QA1's adjustable shocks. However, they are expensive.

Any alternatives before diving into QA1's? Appreciate anyone who has tried Edelbrock or Bilstiens with Hotchkiss.

Makes me very suspect of the engineering which Hotchkis put into their kit. The stock Bilsteins are clearly no good for their springs. I speak from experience.

And make sure that you mount them with Ruslow's heim joint kit, otherwise they will bind and break.

Alphadoggy: what is this item?

And make sure that you mount them with Ruslow's heim joint kit, otherwise they will bind and break.

Sorry, I'm a newbie at suspensions so I don't know what this kit does. Can you clarify? I'll ask Ruslow when he emails me back about the QA1's.

Thanks.

heim joint

meiwah,

The heim joint and mount bolt to your shock mount thereby all but eliminating binding on the shock shaft. pictured in lower left hand corner of the below image.

Here are the part numbers for the direct replacements. They may not be the correct ones to be used with the heim joint option.

The front shocks are part number TC-1538-P (2)

The rear shocks are part number TC-1610-P (2)

T-bar conversion kit is part number LWR300 (2)

T-bar bushing is part number 9032-102 (2)

FYI

QA1 offers two different rear shock options depending on your drop, so be sure to measure from mount to mount before ordering.

If your truck is lowered you have to use the QA1-MU7855P rear shock. I'm doing my homework on my suspension upgrade so I'm going all out real soon.
