Lowering question

I know there have been a lot of suspension threads going around lately but I still have a question. For somebody who knows NOTHING about suspension, what would be the easiest way to drop my truck. I have an 03 and as we all know they've got asses like J-LO. I'm not looking to slam my truck, just bring it down a little. I'm not the best wrench turner so what is something, not too complicated, that I can do?

Follow link in sig for some basic info.

Then from there ask yourself:

How much of a drop?
Whats the goal of the drop, looks or handling?
How much do you want spend?
Can you do the work yourself?

And then use the search button with specific details and you'll find what you need.

With an 03, you better put 3" shackles on that truck just to make it look normal. They sit real high!!!

For more info, go here:

Drop shackles are the cheap and easy way to go, but longer shackles introduce more slop into the rear end and compromise handling. I don't think you'll see any road racers or auto-xers using them.

I've heard the ride can be compromised, but will it be something i will notice with normal driving? I don't ever plan to do any road races or auto cross. I drive my truck everyday and take long trips with it too. Will shackels be ok, and how involved is the install?

You quoted me, but I'm the wrong person to address this question to, since I don't have any experience with shackles. Theoretically, thogh, since you aren't changing spring rate or shock valving I don't see how shackles could compromise the ride; they might even improve it. But longer shackles allow the bed to sway more under hard cornering. If you don't corner hard you'd probably never notice the difference. And I suppose you could always counteract the sway by installing a Ruslow Panhard bar.
