Talking Bought a 2003 Cobra today...

Yep, I went to the Wisconsin SVTOA Icebreaker event today. Something about seeing all those Cobras got me all worked up. When I bought the truck last year I had also checked out a Cobra that day but thought the truck would be more useful. Turns out I really miss having a trunk and backseats, and I guess I am just a car guy at heart. I had not planned on doing anything until next year, but I figured what the heck! So I talked to the same salesperson who sold me the truck and he they had a nice black 03 Cobra. Took it for a short test drive, had him work some numbers... and that sold me on it. I am totally excited!

Let me spend some of your money!!

Long tubes and full exhaust (All day Job!!!) $ 3,000?
KB twin screw ($ 4,000) includes chip?
TB & Cold Air ($ 750)
Drag Radials & Wheels ($ 1,000)
Heat exchange ($ 500)
Drive shaft loop ($ 75)

This would be a very scarey ride!!! Boost it to 20 and hold on!!!!

yes indeedy ... actually, When I put a JDM Lightning air filter kit on my Cobra I got 34 HP. Those factory air boxes choke it up big time.

Going by what I read in one of the mags, and then a dyno day a few months back.
It is unbelievable until you see it.

My '99 pre fix was 254RWHP, and 276 post fix. Stuck a Bassani Cat Back and K&N Filtercharger and got a whopping 294RWHP.

Between a full exhaust system(Headers excluded), a good filter, pulley, and a good tune the '03 put's out numbers that are outstanding for $ to HP.

Not only that, the 600 pound springs help it on the track better than the '99 did with stock springs.

I was just at a track event, and an '03 was keeping a Z06 in place(behind it). Obviously, events vary, we all want to drive home.lol

The Blower is to for(almost siren) as it excellerates up the straight.

No, didn't keep the truck... I make good money but not that good! I wish I could though, the Lightning is really nice.

My girlfriend doesn't really know how to drive stick and I keep telling her I am going to teach her. So last night while we were at a local festival I kinda just said to her "Hey, you might get a chance to learn to drive stick soon...". The expression on her face was priceless! But today she told me she was happy, it actually will be a bit more practical for me (us! ). Weird to say that about a vehicle like that!

Anyways, I am picking the new beast up in a week and a half. As far as mods I am going to probably do a Magnaflow catback and a k&n drop-in filter to start with. From what I heard the exhaust bottles up quite a bit of horsepower on these cars. Hey, also does anyone know if the Accufab throttle bodies they sell for Lightnings will also fit on a 03 Cobra?

I still plan on hanging out here this is a really cool forum. I am grateful for all the good advice I have gotten from some good people here!

Congrats on the new car

I'm a convert too. Lightning to a Cobra. First thing I did was a intake, exhaust, and subframe connectors, all before 300miles on the OD. I didn't want that weak uni-body twisting around. The Lightning had a bassani cat-back, but on the Cobra I went with a Magnaflow Catted X & Cat-Back. For just a touch over $700 I got the Magnaflow set up shipped to my door. Bassani rocks, but you can't beat the price, stainless steel quality, and performance of the Magnaflow set up with all things considered.
