.Who is John Coletti? If you would have said Bill Gates, Warren Buffett, or Lawrence Ellison I would be impressed. But in all reality, people could care so little about thier trucks compared to other things. Ok, you have a quick truck, just as backwoods hillbilly redneck bob down the street in his 88 mustang or camero that the window's wont roll down. Dont fret the little stuff that makes your ***** bigger. Enrich yourself and become more worldy. Dont argue about vehicles. But in reality, when you argue about vehicles you are showing your stupidity. For you have fallen into the scam of Society. You should argue about how we should help the US or the World, and how you should provide for your family, or why we should cut taxes and get rid of welfare. Oh, and Patriatism is ****. The majority is jumping on the bandwagon for doing not a single thing to help out america. Its all a big scam.

WTF

Man....... WTF

I feel like i wasted minutes of my life reading that.

Run for president or somethin

OK, I totally fell for that one! Too tired, I should stop screwing around on the computer and get some sleep. I am on a business trip and the only break from the boredom is my laptop pc in my hotel room.

no Coach, not technically. but it does alter the general public's perception of the vehicle, which is usually pretty far off base anyway. example: had a guy come up to me and ask if my L was 4 wheel drive

I have no right to bash anyone but some people on here need to respect owners of vehicles other than lightnings. dont get me wrong, i own one and love it... but some people on here do anything to put down every other vehicle. I respect every vehicle that is done right and looks nice and teh owner is actually intelligent and gives me mutual respect. It pisses me off when people talk out of their A$$ and dont know what they are talkin about and lie blatantly ex. lightning badges and nothing to back it up. I say be more open minded and respect others and they will respect you. I would say more but i am running on like someone else did earlier in the post. I am tryin not to get political.

My take on it is this. By purchasing a limited or rare vehicle, it's something most of us did to stand out and have something nice that not everyone had. Big reason why I got rid of my Grand Prix GTX... rare package on a common car. Waaaayyyy to many GP's running around WI. So with the Lightning I get something exclusive and rare... very rarely see a Lightning around SE WI. Just what I was looking for. But let's say 10 people in the Milwaukee area all decide to slap Lightning badges on their Ford's, Toyotas, whatever. Financially, no that did not really affect me but perception wise I think that would stink because the vast majority of people are uninformed and would think they were all "real" lightnings, therefore making the vehicle less rare (whether true or not) and therefore perception-wise making my investment to stand out from the crowd lessened. I just feel very strongly that is cheap and it ticks me off. Also, financially that COULD conceivably affect me someday. Let's say alot of fake Lightnings start floating around. Other car dealers (non ford) are largely ignorant sometimes of other makes and values. If they saw alot of "lightnings" driving around they my arguement upon trading the vehicle in someday might not hold up as they wouldn't think the Lightning was a rare vehicle and give me less for a trade-in. IMHO in this case if you did not buy a real Lightning and get your certificate from SVT... you could do whatever you wanted to a truck and give it the same parts, but it will never be a real SVT Lightning and therefore the owner should not have the right to put Lightning badges on it. If I was big into imports and somehow managed to fanagle a real type R honda or Acura over to the U.S., don't you think I would have a right to get pissed off over the thousands of fake type R hondas, acuras, hyundais, yugos, toyotas, etc? That many Type R badges on fake cars cheapens the investment made. Would be the same way if 50000 people all decided to build kit cars that looked like 69 camaros... the people who own real ones would get ticked off because many regular people would not be able to tell real from fake.

I respect what youre saying....but is that what its really about? the public's perception of what youre driving? Why not just get a "chick magnet flashy" sports car or luxury car

I bought my truck because I looked at every kind of vehicle I was slightly interested in, and compared to find what would make me the most happy. I actually had a lot more money saved up to invest in a vehicle than what I spent on my supercrew but I couldnt find any car or truck that I enjoyed more so it made it an easy decision for me.

But if its about public perceptions....then why get a truck at all? why not get a ferrari....mercedes....limosine...well you get what Im saying.

please dont mistake my comments for stirring up a fight or anything...b/c I DO see where youre coming from. But I feel compelled to offer an alternate perspective. And that perspective in a nutshell is...."who the hell cares what poser dumbasses do to their trucks as long as they dont touch yours?"

(The only people they'd fool are people who arent knowledgable enough to have their opinion on YOUR truck matter anyway, right?)

I just have one more thing to say, then I'm off to bed, and forgetting about this post. I have an '03 XLT Sport Flareside. It may happen to look like a lightning, but it isn't, and I'm glad it isn't. Around here it's a pretty rare truck. It's hard to find a regular cab short bed V8. I didn't buy a lightning, and I don't want a lightning, and it really bothers me that there's guys on here who think their lightning is "Better" than my truck, because it's been "Modified". Sorry, your lightning is still an F150 just like mine. Mine suits my needs. Your's suits your needs. I bought a truck, because I wanted a truck. You bought a truck, because you wanted a truck. I agree it looks stupid when people put badges on a vehicle that don't belong, but PLEASE stop saying how the lightning is so superior. It is an F150 just like a Road Runner IS a Belvedere, a Super Bee IS a Charger, a Malibu IS a Chevelle, a Cobra IS a Mustang. They're all great vehicles, Lightnings, King Ranches, Harley Editions, Lariats, XLT's, STX's, XL's and whatever else I forgot... They're all F150's and that's why we're all here. No one's is "Better" just "Better" for them. And yes I would buy a Lightning, and be very proud of it. I just have other things I want to spend "my" money on...

Sorry, I'll shutup now...

And I totally respect your opinion as well! I actually love all sort of vehicles... I have had imports and american, cars and trucks. Why the Lightning? Thought it would be awesome to have a truck that could be so fast and they are rare 'round these parts, also like having truck bed to haul my bikes, etc. I love the crazy nutty stuff people do to their cars!! Makes the world go around. My only beef is with people who fake badge their car or truck in a feeble attempt to pass it off as something else. I just really think that is tacky.

HEHE, yea the "comercial vehicle" auto-Xing and soon to be HST (high speed toruing) at Hallet Raceway. I've installed a 2/4 drop, STEEDA front and rear sway bars. Next will be shox and PanHard bar from RUSLOW.

Some pictures for the bandwith challeged.
