Man, that is a smooth looking truck. The ONLY thing I think it is missing is the ground affects/lower body paneling. Once you match that with the Lightning's, you'll have a sweet truck. I also like what you did with the black rims going with the color of your truck. Good job. Keep pumpin money into that bad boy.
What've you done with the engine...? Or did I miss that post?

what I dont get...and Im sure this will be an unpopular post and make myself a lot of new enemies...but Im simply stating my opinion here, which I have a right to.

I personally have never thought the Lightning's look that great. I mean...Before I found out about their performance I was kind of wondering why so many people chose them. Its something about the shape of the roof....looked kinda like..I dunno...a clown truck.

I know thats gonna **** people off and I dont mean to troll here. But...*shrug*...I just dont see why someone would fake one. The REAL thing they have going for them is the performance...not the look. So if you dont have the performance...whats the point?

anyways..hope I didnt ruffle too many feathers...just bringing up a point.

Im kinda with ya, i always thought regular cab trucks look sorta wierd. But, overall i say the lightning looks freaking awesome when its on larger rims and lowered. They look gorgeous to me like that, the stock ones maybe i could see, esp that 03. But then they are lowered i love that stance they have, makes em look mean as hell.

Here is an old pic of the engine bay.

I only have about 10 grand in the truck with the performance mods and believe me there are a few.
And yes I have everything off the L I mean everything but the bed and frame.

I think its a VIN# issue as well, if it didnt roll off the line a Lightning, aint nuttin you can do to justify badging it as one. On the other hand, someone with a real Lightning could set off C4 in the damn thing and blow half the parts to kingdom come and would STILL be a Lightning....the posers may fool a few trailer-bait 14yr old girls with those monstrosities..but to the trained eye...they just look dumb. Do whatever ya want...throw a blower on the thing..but then toss a "Supercharged" badge on...not an SVT decal...

Stupidity at its peak...

i dont see how that is stupid. That looks like an old california tag, which means he had that plate before lightnings existed. The only thing that seems odd there is the svt license plate, which could have possibly come from the place he bought it from, but even if not, its two screws away from being just right. Those trucks are bad ***.

I honestly don't like the idea of putting the Lightning badge on the the truck, but what the heck. They aren't hurting anyone by doing this, certainly not you guys. And if some "ricer" beats a look a like, then who are they kidding? Themselves I might add. As I for one would question my ability to "kill a Lightning".
I for one wanted a one of a kind truck and did modify it...does it look like a Lightning? I don't think so. I for one wouldn't try, but it is one of a kind, and haven't seen any that look like it in the Tri-state area, and even Texas...Does it turn heads? Hell yeah, and it gets plenty of compliments. But will it every be a Lightning? Hell no! A compliment is all I need. Damn, don't you just love America and it's Freedom of Speech...yall have a great night!

Terry,

I just couldn't let this one go by without complimenting you on a super nice truck! It's not a Lightning but it doesn't have to be to be an extremely nice truck.

F150's forever!!

Not twisting anything .......yet. The facts remain. The 1997 F-150 model year was the first year of the current F-150 bodystyle AND the current F-150 Lightning bodystyle. The current Lightning body style did not begin until 1999 and is based on the 1997 F-150. Therefore, my F-150 bodystyle originated BEFORE the current Lightning. Therefore, the current Lightning is just a faster VERSION of my F-150. Therefore, when I modify my F-150, I am modifying an F-150 and thats all. When you modify your Lightning, you are modifying a VERSION of my F-150. That is just simple fact.

That truck is actually a real deal built by Sean Hyland Motorsports called the "Boss 5.4". Each truck is numbered like a Saleen and is available in three "stages". The only perfomance mod available is a dual outlet cat-back exhaust....the rest is all body mods...a killer interior set-up (custom upolstered seats and interior bits) and some chrome 20's. The dealership where I bought my L had 3 of them...and get this...they were more expensive than my L!!!!!

The dude that owns that particular truck is either vastly misinformed (maybe his salesperson said it was a SVT??) with his SVT plate bracket or is just plain dumb.

yes, true we are modifying a version of your F-150. however, we are not doing so to make our trucks look or perform like yours. the Lightning is an IMPROVEMENT on the F-150; it is a modified performance and appearance package, and our mods further improve the performance and appearance of a truck that is already upgraded from the factory. you can mod your F-150 all you want, but it will never perform like a modded Lightning...unless you replace the drivetrain and suspension first and go from there, like Danoid has done. then your mods will become the same and have the same effects as ours. but if you don't have that base to build on (the SVT drivetrain and suspension), youre just wasting your time and money and IMO, being a poser. do what you want with your truck, just dont badge it as a Lightning if it isn't one please

The Boss 5.4 is actually NOT made by SHM - its made by a Cali custom shop. YOu can search and find the name of the company

They arent my cup of tea. And as you mentioned there is NO go - Just show...

but what does it really matter?

I mean its their money. If thats how they want to spend it then so what? If they want to mod whatever truck they chose to buy then how does it hurt any of the "real" L owners?

I mean...to guys who spend their money on wine, women, and lottery tickets....us guys who spend all our money on truck mods probably seem stupid/childish too. *shrug*

just my lil opinion.
