Manual Switch with LED

Will this LED handle 12V and 40Amp from my flex a lite control modula? I want it to indicate that the fan has power. Thanks!

Wavelength: 660 nm (typ.), Type: T-1-3/4 (5mm), Lens Color: Red, Viewing Angle: 40°, If mA: 20 (max.), Vf: 1.8 (volts typ.), Vf: 2.4 (volts max.)
Nope. That LED is only good for 2.4v max and 20 milli-amps. You will need a resistor to bring the power down on the LED.

What type of resistor should I look for? Do I need to have several in series? Thanks!

Just get a 12V LED. No reason to reinvent the wheel.
