fast, easy, safe engine clean

Any suggestions on best way to clean the engine compartment?

It does't have to be show ready, just cleaned up.

Thanks for any comments.

I irradiate my engine with plutonium...gets rid of everthing...

go to your local pepboys...checkout anything from mothers/
maquiars/eagle1...mask anything electrical with baggies etc...
low pressure only and blow dry the water out with a leaf and yard blower...also cover electrical plugs/connectors...then drive
it for about 10-15 minutes to get up to normal engine temp...
but be careful.

i usually leave the engine running & spray it down at the carwash.. try not to soak filter & electronic stuff..

i then wipe up all the water, and follow up with zaino plastic dressing (with engine off) lol

your results may vary.. almost 60,000 miles of doing this to my truck so far.

cover up

the stuff that shouldnt get wet and use Simple Green..

or there is a CD2 kit you can buy...

then you can use a tire and rubber dressing on all the rubber parts except the fan belts

dboat hit it dead on....simple green at full strength followed up with your preferred rubber dressing. It takes a bit longer doing it this way (by hand) but there is no need to worry about any electric connection getting exposed to water.

If you don't let it get real dirty, I use foam tire cleaner and rinse it off with a garden hose, blow the water off with air and you are done. Plus it leaves a nice shine on all the black.

Hit it with simple green weekly. The CD2 stuff works well, just be careful with that waterhose.

CD-2 is the easiest and best way I found. The detailing spray is the greatest. You can get it here.
