GM launches the Lightning...
Vauxhall, GM's UK brand yesterday launched the VX Lightning concept
VX launch sheds light on GM's priorities in Europe
Vauxhall unleashes lightning
Doesn't SVT have worldwide rights on the name?
As a UK L owner, do I want to see a Pontiac running around my country lanes badged as a Lightning? I think not

>> If/when you see one, show him/her what a *real Lightning* is
Yeah, it'd be kinda fun for grgreves (Hi, George) and myself to turn up at one of their trackdays and kick some GM a$$!
cheers

maybe not the concept shown, but the VX is already on sale as a badge-engineered GM version of the (brilliant) Lotus Elise. What bugs me is that they seem to think they can use the name!

to generic...
"Lightning" is a bit to generic to have a trademark on.
Now if GM tried to launch a tuner truck in the US with the Lightning name, Ford could fight it, but otherwise they're in the clear.

Unoid, thanks - yes I do get some looks over here. The neat thing is that not many folks here really know what the L is and guys in Range Rovers and stuff will try to race you; then they get a real shock.

Wannanicecar - yep the Lotus Elise is something special, an English pal of mine had his out in the Bay area for a year
Not as fast as the L in a straight line, but it would leave most cars on the planet behind on the twisties
Hope they import the Elsie to the US one day
