JDM intake vs. mac intake

what is teh difference between the 2? The mac one is 129.99 and looks to be pretty much the same as the JDM one. Is there any difference i should know about or am i just getting humped for an extra 60 bucks for the name? I am not bashing, i am just curious?

open air kits

Vinny, This is my opinion so take it for what it's worth, I think most of the open air kits provide the same type of performance and noise level, maybe a bit more with the ram air set up's but not much more on a stock ride, I do think the more mods that you make the more it helps, but I think of it as part of the package to reach my goal. I have JL's ram air set up on my truck which I like very much, I also like Razor's Edge smooth tube setup but there are lots of kits now available from the tuners and performance parts makers. I'd try the MAC the price can't be beat as long as the shippings fair and see if it makes you happy, one things for sure no matter who's kit you chose your blower whine will send small children running, get evil looks from your neighbors and sound bad *** on those full throttle drive by's. Have Fun, Todd

Thanks todd. I guess i will go for it unless someone else lets me know of any difference. I will let this post hang for a while and see if anyone else chimes in before i drop my cash. I know everyone is going to tell me to get the fast air or ram air but i am still nervous about rain and snow. i would rather build something myself higher up on the truck for outside air to travel through. Maybe behind the grill somewhere.

the 159 Metco kit includes a new air temp sensor and a filter to fender air inlet tube.

just reuse your sensor, there's no need for a new one, and the filter to fender tube makes no difference in performance.

did the intake tube help any did u find or is it just for looks? How much was it. It does look nice. I guess air would flow better across a smooth surface but did u notice any difference.

The intake tube is just for looks, you will never notice a difference with it.

Edit: the intake tube is $180

it looks nice. I want the open intake for looks too. It is for a little gain but the factory air box looks kinda *****ty. For an extra 60 bucks over the k'n panel filter i think teh looks are worth it. What were the dyno results anyway. I am sure they were close no?
