Hi..Just got a set off EBAY( yes there real)..Anyone have any idea what they were planning on useing that extra little socket hole on the side of the red lense for??? Thanks !!

 

I own a 99 and the tail lights for the 99/00 Ls had 3 holes..1 for the red riding lamps, the next for the reverse lamp and the 3rd is another riding/brake/blinker lamp. If i'm not mistaken on the 01 and up Euros the plastic is refabricated from the 99/00s but the single riding lamp is deleted and blocked off on the TLs. The newer Tailights you speak of only use the reverse lamp and multifunction brake/blinker/riding lamp bulbs...I found myself scratching my head also..I just taped off my riding bulb and tucked it inside

Yeah i know that deal but if you look at the inside of the newer lenses there is a spot/circle cast in the back-black part of the lense that looks like it was to be for some kind of running light or parking light? It's behing the red square part of the lense? On mine there is a 1/8" hole in the center of it with a black rubber plug over it ....wierd...

 

Yeah thats where the running light went on the earlier year 2nd gen Lightnings.. it's just deleted on the newer tail lights and they put a cap or a rubber plug over it because it has no use anymore for that design on the newer tail lights..
