so can we just buy a new pcm, ship it to mark and have it returned and able to just plug in and go. the reason i ask is my L sees daily use and if i could retain the stock pcm while mark flashes a new one, i think i would do it.

You need to re-program the Pats when you get the pcm back if its a brand new one.

 

Are you able to buy directly from Ford for that much or do you have to provide proof of your original being damaged or provide a core?

 

Although I am not a child of the 70's, I would take that as a compliment as well....

I was talking to mark a little about that last weekend as well at the FLA meet. Like someone else said, the only problem with taking it back to ford for service is they will re-flash your chip with the newest codes for your truck. (which will blow marks away and you would have to start over again with his program) It would be smart to have a stock computer for service repairs ,and then use mark's for the track or whatever. He swears by it and he does know his ****

 

My bud works for Ford and i ordered a ABU2 for $250. Im going to install the new one in the truck and do the pats setup.

Send my stock one off to mark and get it flashed.

 

Mark has a good rep on the "other" sites... the question that concerns me is at $250 a wack - you'd like to make sure the dealer doesn't re-flash the PCM for some other issue because they feel the need to do it? (ie. then you have to get it re-re-flashed again?)

 

Just tell the dealer NOT TO Reflash the computer. IF a re-flash needs to be done, they must contact you.

 

or find a spare computer or something..
