hits rev limiter before upshifting

I've got an 03 L with PSP's 6# lower and 4-way chip (Autologic). I'm just using the street side at the moment. Problem I'm having is when downshifting into 1st it will almost always hit a rev limiter and shut off briefly before it shifts into 2nd gear. It will also do it coming off the line in 1st gear without downshifting (sometimes).

Sal has a couple others that are having the same issues and is working on a fix with Autologic. My fuel cut-off is set at 6000 rpm according to Sal and the upshift is at 5400 rpm. Yet it will still shut-down often at 5400 rpm in low. I think it did it one time on the 2nd to 3rd shift also (same rpm).

Anyone else have this issue and figure out how to fix it? Are there two rev limits built into these trucks? This can't be good for the truck as it's fairly violent when it happens. It's not a loose chip either. It only happens on an upshift at that rpm, usually only in first gear. I've heard of a Ford problem with over-revving on the downshift to 1st gear and hitting the rev limiter, but that is supposed to be controlled by the chip now.

I think Sal's going to figure it out for you. Be patient as he just went thru a 'fired-up' weekend.

I know he'll figure it out eventually. I also know he's very busy and I hate bugging him. But he doesn't know what's causing it at this point, so I thought maybe someone here had been through it before.

Do 2003's have torque reduction? If so thats it, it sounds like the truck is farting on upshift. My 2001 does it too. and is normal

We may have found the problem with the truck feeling like it's hitting the rev limiter before the shift. This issue is for the 02/03s only. There was another limiter still active in the calibration that Autologic found today. If you like, send your chip back in and I'll redo it.

Thanks Sal, will do. Now if I can keep my foot out of it while the chip is gone; don't want to swap the pulley back!

Sal, mine only does it after a downshift. It NEVER does it from a dead stop. I may be wrong but it looks like on the tach that it is reving higher when it downshifts and hit the limiter) than on a normal upshift.

What about all the crazy ***** that was happening before I cut my wires? Is is possible it's just a bad batch (or part of a batch) of harness or switches? Have you had the problem with a old chip in a new truck? The chip you sent me was brand new and I bet my old one would have been ok. No hurry because since I cut the wires off it runs great (except for the problem at downshift)!
