Went to the track, now some ?'s

I went to the local 1/8 mile track and am a little confused. I got 11 runs in almost all of which were 9.0xx. I was extremely consistant all night long. My question is, I had 60' times from 2.3 down to 2.1 ( i know that sucks I need help with that too) but no matter what the 60' was I still ran 9.0xx. I this weird? For example one run I got 2.304 60' and then a 9.067 ET, couple runs later I got 2.182 60' and pulled a 9.015 ET. I would think bringing the 60' down would drop ET, no? It was hot out if that means anything, temp was consistant all night long though. Truck is an 03 and has no real mods. I cut holes in the airbox and removed; hitch, spare, jack, tailgate (I have a soft cover).

79 is not normal. Should be around 95 for trap speed.

For Stock Truck on 1/8 mile?? 95 seems more like MPH for stock in quarter..

I have to agree, 95mph in the 1/8th with a stock truck would be smokin! Heck, my 01 would only go 99-103mph in the 1/4 with everything being stock.

VTSVT,

But to answer your question, yes you seem off pace.

yeah I had some fun....but at the same time it was disouraging. I was expecting 8.7 with a little luck and I wasn't anywhere close. Does the air temp make that big of a difference? Or should I look to my truck for the problem?

Yes VTSVT
Air temp and hot lapping will lose you from 3-4 tenths easy.

Next time you go, put 22-25 lbs of air in the F-1's,
Let it cool down at least 45-60 minutes
Now your ready
Go around the water but YES, DO A BURNOUT.
DONT LISTEN TO ANYONE THAT SAYS IT DONT MATTER
IT DOES MATTER low rpm burnout and fairly long.
Make sure the OD is OFF
Dont touch the gas peddle
Leave your foot on the brake til the light turns green
Then stomp that SOB through the floor and hold on
They call that flashing the convertor,
it nets the best results.

As for the people about to argue about doing a burnout.
Considering each and every ET I ever had on F-1's was a 1.8 or 1.9 (except (1) 2.0) I'd say your wrong, and I'm right,
IT DOES HELP VERY MUCH

Hey Rob_02Lightning, thanks for all the advice! I'm pretty sure now that my times were a result of the air temps. I didn't/couldn't cool the truck down so that must be the problem. I didn't realize it would cost me 3-4 tenths.

I'll agree with everything Rob has to say except 2 things

#1. Leave the OD button alone, you'll willn't get out of third gear in a stock truck.

#2. This is the BIG one, if you leave when the light turns green, you'll get beat at the light everytime. Leave on the last yellow. Watch Robs video of his 12.0 run.....he leaves on the green, while I leave on the last yellow. No red light and see ya

Oh ya, Gators right
I do tend to leave an hour after the other guy
BUT I DO GET GREAT 60's

I'm sure he's right about the OD too,
but I leave mine off

"95 mph" is incorrect(you probably were thinking of the 1/4 while he was running the 1/8th) for the 1/8th. Your mph should have been in the mid-to high 70s in the 1/8 with that et.

When i ran my truck stock a few weeks back i was getting 9.0's all night except for 2 8.9's i didn't take anything off hitch, tailgait, etc. And my mph was 79 every time. My 60ft times sucked but it was 81 degrees and muggy. I will try letting air out of the tire for my next run at it , and leaving right before the green light got me 2 8.9"s
