52000 tranny rolls forward in reverse.

I was point down roughly a 30 degree grade today and needed to backup. Brake applied slipped it into reverse. Brake to gas pedal and it started to roll forward. Does it not lock up at idle in reverse or have I just forgotten? Had to goose it to start in the right direction. Cycled it a couple times with same result..

Is this right...seems fine otherwise.

I'm pretty sure that you'll find that is normal.

If the converter locked in reverse with low (or no) vehicle speed, the engine would stall.

Mine has always been this way. Every car I have actually.

It's normal. The converter will not lock up in reverse and what you're feeling is the converter letting it roll a bit before it "catches" the tranny is locked into reverse, but the converter won't hold it at idle. This will be worse on a stall converter.
