Gauges finally installed...

Well, the stars finally aligned and I had a sunny day that I didn't have to work. Sat down to finish my gauge install.

Got it all done, no realy hard parts.

So now I have:
3 gauge pod:
trans temp
voltage (so I don't kill my battery with the e-fan)
fuel pressure

Column pod:
oil pressure
build in Escort Passport smart control
switch for my E-fan

Mirror:
hardwired the radar detector

I'll get some picks up shortly.

Just curious: What are normal readings for fuel pressure/oil pressure and voltage?

Radar isn't really hidden...

The detector is still up there at the mirror. I just run it in lights out mode and there aren't any wires hanging anywhere.

Didn't do boost...

I figure what's the point? The stock gauge works great for a "boost present" detector, and sicne the number doesn't really mean much, I figured I'd skip it...

Hmm maybe i'll just do more gauges! lol

for got about oil pressure...

so now I need:
trans temp
water temp
voltage
oil pressure
fuel pressure
boost (i still like to know what mine is registering at...especially if i plan to up the boost, etc.)

and maybe a mobile wideband!

Maybe I should just go for Ruslow's setup

Wideband...

I'm going for:

http://www.techedge.com.au/vehicle/wbo2/wbo2.htm

Ends up costing around $400 US for a wideband and you get a digital LCD out. I think I'll flush mount it somewhere in my dash (actually two of them, one for each side)

400 is not bad at all! Looks like I might as well make my own dash with the stuff i want!

How did you hook up the volt gauge?? I was wondering where to tap into a switched source. I usually use a fuse tap on the accessory fuse and I was wondering if this would work for the truck. Also how do you tap into the dimmer switch to power the changes and have them dim with the lights. Is there a wire in there I can tap into for that also?? Any info would be a big help.

Volt gauge:

All of the gauges use power, so I ran a common power supply up from under the dash. I forget the wire color, but it's a biggie (just search here for the wire information)

Oil Pressure:

There's no better way to do this than make a T fitting for your stock sender and the autometer sender.

Coldie,

Thanks for the idea and info. I was thinking there may be a plug somewhere, but a T fitting should do the trick. Where is the stock oil sending unit mounted? Thanks, again.
