Anyone launched a plug on a "99"???

Just curious if anyone has launched a plug on a "99".
I heard a "rumor" that the plug launching issue may not be as likely to happen on a "99" than some of the other years.
Just curious.
If anyone knows why that would or would not be the case, please chime in and shed some light on the topic.
Thanks

The thing about the 99 and 00's that "seems" to be less likely is breaking rods, they still spit plugs

Looking for just launched plugs

And looking for just "99"'s that have launched.
I have heard that the 99/00 rods were stronger but want more info on actuall cases of launched plugs on "99"'s

Red face Anyone launched a plug on a "99"???

andy_cain;

When I did first plug change were three loose plugs, two on
passenger side and one on drivers side. Maybe got lucky there,
but broke valve face later in third hole right side that cost big
big bucks after warranty was canceled for aftermarket chip. But
am suing for that and should get expence returned when case is handled in court??? I haven't heard of any "99"s launching plugs either!! Maybe head materail or number of threds for plug hole had something to do with it?? I have heard lots about it "01"s, but not "99"s!

prior to 2001 I dont remember reading about launched plugs at all. Maybe its because no-one at the time had changed their plugs yet though ...

I have a 99 and I had a plug come loose. I had a weird sound like a pressure cooker makes coming from the engine. I took it to the dealer and they said I had a stripped plug. The dealer replaced the right head and both head gaskets due to the leaking gaskets. I was out of warranty (42956 miles) but for some reason they decided to cover it under warranty, did not argue with that.

When i first noticed it, I could only hear it when I would give it gas. Then after a couple days it did it all the time and got louder. Never noticed at what RPM it did it at cause it would not do it at idle at first and then it did.

Were they the original plugs?
Did the plug actually launch or just loosen?

they were the original plugs and this was after the intercooler replacement. they were suppose to check the plugs when they did that. it did not lauch, the coil pack was holding it in place.

My 99 just spit a plug. On the freeway, in traffic.
I pulled over. Saw it bouncing up and down , passengerside, rear.
It was Sunday afternoon, so we got back in and drove it to the house. Drove it to the dealer on Monday.
I have extended warranty. 71k. They said that because the plugs were not ORIGINAL , they were not going to cover. (not Ford warranty)
My service manager is argueing with them. They are supposed to send out an inspector. The plug is ok, the head is stripped. I had NGKs in it. The dealer installed them. Estimate is $2630.00.
Parts are on order.
