Plug launched

Well my 99 POS just launched # 3 last Thursday. Only 23,000 miles on it and the extended warranty crooks denied it without even coming out to see the truck. Dealership is the one I purchased the truckand warranty from, and I have to tell you I am LIVID! They take your 1200 bucks for the warranty and then walk. Obviously the plug launching is a problem and quite frankly, I'm not surprised at the extended warranty guys decision. Heck it's not their responsibility to bail Ford out from an obvious design defect, and it should be FMC stepping up to the plate to resolve the problem. I am going to the dealership tomorrow and launch World War III with them. Film at 11:00.

Radar, my L launched a plug and I was covered under the extended warranty plan. I can not see how they can legaly walk away from this issue. I do know it cost close to $10,000 to fix my truck (long story goes with this). A few of those type of fixes may start to add up back at Ford HQ.

My 99 launched a plug at 76,000 miles. Out of warranty, and no help from the dealer.

Wow, Nathan, hard to believe you have that much mileage now. I have not been on this web site in a very long time, probably 18 to 24 months. You were one of the original guys on this thing, in fact a lot of us were on here before the darn trucks even started shipping. Good to see you still around. Did you go with new heads or a steel insert? My dealer says Ford agreed to pay 80 percent, I guess because the mileage is so low. After much "cogitation" and basically a indirect threat to blow the whistle on me using a superchip, I backed off my demand for 100% and agreed to the 80. Still, 20% of 3 g's is a lot of cash. Take care and hope to see a thread where you bought the new 05 Lightning or maybe an 05 GT (wish I were a shelby) fastback!!

Nathan bought a new motor.

My 2000 launched a plug at 44000, I had a "leak" noise for a time before it took off, it happened the day I was going to get it checked. (fate).

I drove it 16 miles back to the dealership with no SES light, though I sounded like a harley with straight pipes at that time...it would get close to stalling at idle.
