Find an old 427 SOHC and drop it in. Now that would be fun.

I recently bought a Gen1 also. My first mod was a Vortech S trim. It really woke the truck up. Stock they run about a 15.2 and I ran a 13.8 w/ a lot of spinning with the S trim at around 8psi. NLOC has a lot of good info.

The first mods i would start off with are:
K&N cone filter
shift kit
exhaust

or all of the above with a Vortech.

3 piece under drive pulleys
electric fans
catback
bump timing

That should knock near half a second off
