01 Z-06 is a bad *** car. The only differance between the 02/03 with the 405 HP, is the cam, sodium filled valves, and the elimination of the precats. You can easily get the 20 HP back. I mean a 02/03 will run 12.4 @ 116, the 01 will run 12.6 @ 114. That is still pretty fast. The 01 Z-06 should go for about 35K. I'd go for the Z-06 if you want to have a spare vehicle. I drove a C-5 6 speed Vette for 3 years every day and I got tired of it. But the 03 L has the better heads and you can have some fun with that as well. It's a tough choice depending on your daily driving.

 

Im just not sure what i want i guess. I have a 96 ranger if i need to haul anything. My buddy has a 2001 L and i love to drive it. Im either looking at xplan for a 2003 sonic blue L or the local dealership is asking $35900 for the z06 so im sure i can get them down alittle bit. I got a 66 vette and i love it real fun to drive. I like the fact the L is a flat out fast truck. oh yea the z06 has 23k miles what to do what to do

 

you have a 66 vette? ! that thing has much more class than a zo6. true the z is a nice car, but soccer moms are driving them to do sprints to the grocery store. dime a dozen.

get a lightning then. my oppinion

i love it but its not something you can take out and drive all the time

 

Personally I would take the Z if you won't use the truck aspect much. I rarely haul anything, and the L doesn't comfortably seat anymore passengers than the Z. The L is still a major sleeper which is a plus, since you wont sneak up on anyone in a vette. As for engine problems...the L problems have been pretty well documented on this site, you just have to weigh those against the faults of the vette.

 

Decision has been made i went with the 2003 lightning. i got it in sonic blue and am loving it
