Not doubting that the L would probably win against the new Z stock for stock, but keep in mind that those magazines all reported 14 second 1/4 miles for the L too

one painfull fact about the srt-4...... It is still a neon.
So they reported a 14 second 1/4 mile time for the L too? Sounds like the performance is close between the two.
Has anyone seen an L race a Z in the quarter? I wish I could see that. Maybe I'll get my chance if I decide on getting a Z. eh?

I was messing around with a Z in traffic 2 months ago for like 10 minutes. Finally we were next to each other at a light. the race was on, and I walked away from him like i was racing a maxima. My truck is virtually stock (only k+n panel filter , and bassani catback = virtually no gain). It was like 45 degrees out (perfect temp). I've got my launch down to a science now, being that I constantly find myself racing. I have no doubt that my L is atleast as fast as the 2001L that was tested on the car and driver tv show (5.2 sec 0-60 13.8 sec 1/4 mile) that I taped on speedvision like 2 years ago. No 2004 Z is coming close to those numbers, I don't care who is driving it.
BTW, we raced to about 110mph, I was about 100 yards ahead of him. 1 minute later when I was slowing down for my exit, he eventually passed with a BIG grin and gave me a
I think it was a mixture of shock + embarassment.

As much as I like and respect the L and all it's power, I am looking for a compact sports car. I think the 350z has enough speed for my needs. Although it's not the fastest, I am considering the reliability that Nissan is known for. All in all, I think it will suit my needs. That is until I get side by side with a Lightning at a stoplight! Then I'll need a little more.
But that's what mods are for eh?
So the turbo version will be out by 05'? Hmmmmm...

350Z
My wifes lease is up in mid may so we've been shopping alot, the Z is beautiful and a blast to drive, is it a stop light monster, no, but it's offers alot for the money and it revs like no tomarrow.
Long Day's Scattered Mind's Thought:
The Lightning should have the Z as long as you don't burn the ***** outta your tires (and even then....) They are by no means slow, ofcourse niether is the L.
I love the look of the Z, I just about broke my m0ther****** neck when I saw an electric blue one
I would shave them door handles though.
And the Dodge Neon SRT-4? Blegh! I wouldn't drive that thing if it had a viper engine and a blower coming 2 feet out of the hood. Reasoning: How many times have you said "OMG! DID YOU JUST SEE THAT NEON? AN HONEST TO GOD DODGE NEON!"

With the 350Z you can at least say Nissan makes the Skyline GT-R SpecV, all wheel drive, capable of handling 1500hp on the stock block. That, if I may say so, is much more impressive than a Viper. Who wants a car that sounds like a V6 Mustang while stock, anyway?

Nice first post. 1500hp on the stock block? The most I have seen is 1050hp ,and even that needs constant tuning and fixing.. Who cares about the stockblock ,all I know is ive seen a Viper dyno at 990rwhp WHILE SPINNING ON THE DYNO and its a daily driven car. And if you heard the ehxuast on the 03 Viper ,I think you would think different.
