I guess your special... Like to see your valvetrain in 10,000 miles
You are saying a valve train won't last past 10K miles if the tool is not used? Do you have proof of that or is it another one of your guesses? I have 2K miles left to prove you wrong.
My truck has around 8K total on valvetrain w/o using the tool. 3K in the last month after the helicoiling and 5K last year after the head porting and new valves...

Kevin, just for argument sake, we installed the Cranes in my the 4.6 on my 2000 GT, with the heads on, in the car, without the cam tool. A 3/8 breaker bar, and it setup perfect.
My GT went 11,000 before I sold it.
Now space is far more limited in the bay of the Lightning, but you don't NEED the tool to setup the cams. Same heads, same cams.

Well after setting up the cams on the DOHC's, i got used to using the cam lock tool and think its a wise choice.Thats one area i dont mess around with being out of spec.
I dont think it would be wise to install those cams in the truck but it can be done.
