checked plugs-the good, the bad, and the ugly

Spent Easter Afternoon checking my plugs. Second plug in sliced my hand open on the end of a hose clamp and nearly bled to death, had to finish the job wearing a rubber glove, that didn't help.

Have NGK TR6s, I installed with about 3k miles on the truck back about a year and a half ago (didn't drive it all winter though)

The good..... all the plugs were in there very snug. All of them looked almost like the day I put them in, clean with no damage, no build up or oil

The bad.....5 out of 8 had to be change because of water getting down in the holes, all rusted on the exterior. Already had 1 coil pack go last year cause of this. I can account for the passenger side 3, because the hose clamp (which tried to mutilate me) was loose on my heater core hose where I installed my temp sensor for my guages. But I can't figure out the driver's side???? After i had the coil pack go, i replaced the coil and plug right before FFW in August. Only went to the track 2 times after that and purposly avoided water from the ice but using plenty of towels. I never wash the engine at all, but can't figure out how it's getting in there???

It was kinda fresh too, as in there was water on the boot and plug when i pulled them out. I put some dielectric grease on everything when i put them back. Funny thing was the truck wouldnt start after I was done. Then it started and ran like it did when the coil pack went. Let it set all night and then it was fine???

The ugly-nasty hole in the side of my hand.....blood everywhere-except on the truck

Do you ever wash the engine down? Only other source of water i can think of besides that temp sensor thing you did.

Have you figured out where the water is coming from? That is strange...

nope

can't figure it out. NEVER Washing my engine down with the hose, always just wipe it down by hand.

no leaks from windshield washer lines.

the leaking hose was just barely seeping , i'm not sure that's what even caused the passenger side problem.

The last plug back on the driver's side is where i had the coil pack fail for the same reason last summer......same thing.

Any way something could be leaking from when the intercooler???

Anyone know if thy changed the diameter of the rubber boots when the updated/graded the coil packs from the green to yello, to black???
