chip install

i remember a thread about install of chip a while back and cant find it in the seach and wonted to know what to use to clean the stuff off the terminals and about how long it takes (my first time to do smething like this)

Hows it going?


All you need is a thin flat head screwdriver. Scrape very lightly the area between the contacts and then even more delicately on the contacts themselves. You can see the coating come off, because it 'flakes'.

Then, lightly pass a brillo pad over the contacts to make sure they are clean, and then finally, clean the contacts using a q-tips and alcohol (very sparingly).

If you see copper on the contacts, you have scraped too far

P.S. Conformal coating smells like dirty _ _ _ _ y

If you see copper on the contacts, you have scraped too far
what happens if you see copper on the contacts? will the chip still work? just curious
