Looking into getting an L. Have a few questions...

I have a blown GT right now, and I'd like to get a Lightning as well. Probably an '01 with low mileage.

I'm not too familiar with the Lightning so I just have some questions.

What do I need to get this thing into the mid-high 12's? How much performance can I ger for say, $2000? What kind of gas mileage to expect? How does the handling compare to a GT or other similar sports cars?

Thanks a lot for any help you guys can give me.

chip 300+
filter 180+
pulley 4lbs or more 229+
upgraded spark plugs 30-99
traction bars 99 cheaper 250+ good ones

10-14 mpg

thats all you need to get into the 12's

1825 full exhaust

a cat back doesn't give these truck any power, but high flow cats give the most even more then headers, they are around $300

Dice,

I believe the window sticker lists 12 in city, and 16 on the highway. I think the highest I've seen was 17.2 on the hwy with a few mods. But you don't buy a Lightning b/c of the gas mileage As for mods, most guys usually put an air intake, exhaust, chip, and pulleys on as the first few mods, but I'll let someone else who has actually afforded it and done it explain more

Cool...What should I expect to pay for low mileage '01?

How about the handling? Or is that just like the gas mileage question? :o

well you can upgrade the with 12-way adjustable shock for around 1000+ and have handling like an BMW m3

i would pay around 24-26K for a 01, but if you can get an x-plan you can get a brand new one for around 29K i think

You can save a lot of money by buying a used chip and pulley.

Get the chip reburnt by your tuner of choice, add some colder plugs and t-stat, and you've got 12's

Really? Can I get a link?

How about the fiberglass bed cover? I haven't really been able to find anything on the net.

I just paid $25,400 for a 2001 with 4500 miles on it. Whats funny is I know the original owner and the Ford dealer bought it outright from him for $26,000. Cant believe theyd take a loss.
