Exclamation Please help - V1 install PAGE NOT FOUND!

Archives all mention the following link:

http://users.ev1.net/~temurphy/lightning/rdinstall

But it's gone! I'm trying to tap into the overhead console wires, and there are like 6 or 7 wires. Which is 12V+ that's only hot with key in accessory/ignition, and where is a good ground up there? The 2 brass-colored screws thread into nylon, not the metal body. Any suggestions?

Thanks SVT-KY. For archive purposes:

- White wire w/ blue stripe = 12V+ power on accessory/ignition.

- Black wire w/blue stripe (not green stripe for 2001-2003)= ground. Do NOT try and use the 2 brass screws or the black single screw as grounds (they do not contact any body sheetmetal)

Both wires are at the edge of the harness (one above the other).

I tapped into the 2 wires off the harness, rather than just tap power and try and ground to another location. No reason to re-invent the wheel.

Other notes: when wiring the remote display, it's a lot easier when you remove the door gasket/weather stripping on the side of the dash and A-pillar. Then you can thread the cord down and around by the fuse box, then come up behind the dash and pop through through the rubber flap around the steering column.

Sorry for the confusion guys. I had that page hosted on my old ISP, then went to cable modem and the old link still floats around.

BMWBig6 - I'd be glad to update that page with what you've found different on the 01-02 models.
