I give up. :)

/me sighs.

Need a beer after this one.

Attempted to do a few things today, got TWO done.

* reinstalled truck-traks with spacer plates
* fixed mounting post for rear bedlid.
* new clear corners, old ones had some spots, I'm just picky
* went to car wash
* remove spare tire & crank

Attempted to do but could not:

* keypad mod (not enough hours of sunlight)
* remove hitch (don't have the right tools)
* 2-DIN stereo install (take #6)

I am now hte owner of FIVE extra dash-mounting kits for an F150, all slightly different, but NONE of which let you put in a 2-DIN stereo easily. Anyone need a kit?

The two-DIN kit from American has a little footnote on page two of the manual (that isn't visible from the outside) saying "Dash must be modified for kit to function"...then goes on to say that you have to cut off and out the TOP AND BOTTOM bezel of the DASH din opening. YAH, RIGHT! Then it also wanted you to attach the "ISO" plates to the two radios via screws. Thats great, one of my radios DOSN'T HAVE ANY SCREW HOLES.

Oh well.

I give up.

Dan
/me surrenders.

Dan, Just a thought, can you have someone machine one for you, then if you want the black just have it power coated, I know the dash kits you have a most likely plastic but this might be an option to solve your problem. Todd

Go to BestBuy and go to the install area and talk to the guys back there. That's what I did for mine. Didn't have to mod anything. Just slides right in.

Come over my house and I will do the Keypad and hitch mod whenever you want.

I owe you one anyway.

Todd : That will be the last resort.

Quicksilver : I'm getting temtped, but I prefer to do the install stuff myself... I'm going to try notchign the sides and see if the ISO pieces slide in. My big problem with is that my EMPEG car adaptor does not have side-screw holes, its meant to screw to the back and have the little tabs bent down for the front edges.

Vin : I'll take you up on that. Let me know when you've got a free weekend.

Rob: Thx, yeah, I read your post but I'm glad you found the trouble.

Cyntaxx: I have three...shoot me an email.

Dan
